At this point, I do too - unless we could get Gruden (ha) or a Kiffin (ha) or similar no brainer.
Petrino has won here. Against good competition.

One big caveat though - the game has changed with NIL. Can he successfully navigate the bullshite a coach has to deal with these days, in building a roster that you basically have for one year?
Offensive players should be interested if he's the coach, but can he draw the defensive talent we need? Can he get a good to very good DC?

Questions that can't be answered until he is given a shot.

Green was #1 in the country in total yards individually.

Please stop posting this like it matters.

He can't control the ball, and is still extremely poor at reading defenses as a 5th year college quarterback.

He is mediocre as a QB. You guys love him because hes fast, which is baffling to me. He's great at running backwards 20 yards and taking a sack.

If I didn't think he was a decent guy, I'd assume he was throwing games.

I’ve said he should have been made into a WR since about halfway through last year.

You completely misread my post and strawmanned the frick out of it. I just said it wasn't hard to see why he kept his job. I'm not defending him. I was begging for Green to be benched for Singleton all last year.

I think both of us were, I said TG was a possession wide receiver. And most people said don’t you trust Bobby? He has forgotten more than we both ever knew.

I’m guessing he stuck with Taylen hoping to build him with experience. It made sense last year to let him go through the growing pains. I’d say he left him in about 4 games too long.

The mental gymnastics in support of a coach that is about to finish, ofer in his last 10 SEC games is appalling.

No mental gymnastics here. I’d have already hired him, by now, if it was me.

While it wouldn't surprise me in the least, I think Bobby as HC is settling instead of upgrading.

He's not the home run hire that this program needs. He doesn't move the needle with sports media.

Will he win 7 games, probably. Will he lose the critical games, absolutely.

We need a splash hire imo and Petrino isn't it.

I don’t care about sports media. They’ve pumped Deion for 5 years. They’ve pumped Belicheck the whole off season.

They also pumped like three SEC QB's as preseason Heisman favorites. None of them are even in the conversation now. If the sports "media" isn't for something or it doesn't move their "needle", it probably means it's the right choice. The last football coach we had that the so called media didn't really care for also happens to the last one that won here.

Upgrading to what? Someone that's never coached a P4 game in their lives?

Every hire realistically on the table is a gamble. The hire everyone is fawning over (Campbell) barely beat an Arkansas State team that Pittman did whatever he wanted to against with this dogshit team and lost to the 3-8 Deion circus in Colorado.

There are no home runs for us. There are hires you want and hires you don't.

Oh I know. He posts solely to stir the pot. Doesn't make the stance any less easier to fortify, though.

Yep.

I believe we’re about to downgrade

Trading a coach that lost to Memphis for a coach that is 0-3 against Memphis.

But he beats UAB (usually) and was the assistant to the assistant manager for a good offense at Tennessee. Trust the ball knowers
