Long very well could have made a statement denying an offer was made, but it serve no purpose. All denying the rumor would do I smoke Miles and his agent look greedy to the LSU administration and fan base, and mess up Miles's money grab.

But also consider what such a denial would do to Arkansas. It would alienate that agent, possibly alienate other agents or at least make them vey wary. That makes this coaching search and future searches more difficult. That's not in Arkansas's best interest.

May have trolled Bama into having to give Saban a little raise too...

But we'd look bad to any number of people. Casual observers (people who watch SportsCenter, recruits, their parents, high school coaches, college coaches, NFL coaches, etc). A lot of people would have taken note of that news and thought, "Wow, that's a lot of money." Next day they see he turned us down (because that's what is being reported numerous places) and think, "Wow...LSU must be a lot better job than Arkansas for him to turn that down...or Arkansas must be pretty bad shape."

Why is that so hard to acknowledge as being a possibility?
