At the very least it gives whomever we want to negotiate with leverage to bargain with. I don’t know if OM spends the kind of money we do, or are willing to spend this time, but with Missouri already open, this kind of blows.

I am pretty sure they're going to be targeting one main guy and throwing the kitchen sink at him...He is in Memphis.

Reb fans I know would welcome Hugh back. Don’t know if all feel that way though.

Norvell to Ole Miss to kick our arse for the next decade would of course be fitting.

I'd he's not FSU bound, I would bet my house he goes to Ole Miss. Hell, it's basically the same job, only one has way more recourses and can lure far better talent.... Us he gets to stick it to Arkansas.

It's almost too perfect of a fit.

Like I said, sucks. I guess it doesn’t matter if our target is Kiffin, but even so, he may be able to pop for more money if OM goes hard for Norvell. Kind of takes one of our possible targets off the radar. Wish we would have knocked this all out a little sooner. We had the head start.

there really isn't a way to knock it out sooner. Too many championships, bowls, etc left.

We most likely didn't want too many coaches not still having the opportunity to coach still.

We did get a head start over others...

If Hunters plan is to wait and slow play Kiff and interview another guy, then announce next week, then he needs to improvise, overcome, and adapt, bigly.

He's had 2 weeks. If some guy tells you no, frick him, don't chass, just get Kiff signed or someone else quick.

The walls are closing in fast. FSU and SC are going to fight over the big fish and all these southern schools are going to be fighting over the regional guys.

If we entertain the rumors it seems that Kiffin has wanted this job for a long time. And if there is any bad blood between him and whoever for not hiring him earlier, Yurachek has already tried to hire him to Houston in the past. I assume Lane and Hunter get along.

I think if we want Lane we got him. Not worried about Missouri or Ole Miss ruining that if it's the plan.

Ole miss has a decent recruiting class. It’d be nice if we could get a coach here soon and poach a few of thier recruits. Signing day is 2 weeks away.

I'm not worried about Mizzou or OM, this is the whole reason we got rid of Chad before the season ended. We've already had 3 weeks to talk to coaches and get serious, and work out numbers.

Plus neither program has any advantage over us, and it could even be argued that we're a better program. There's not really any inherent reason a coach would choose them over us to begin with, and we've already been talking to our targets for weeks potentially.

True, and I hope you’re right. I’m hoping the benefits of that head start show up this week.

Mizzou is going to be a tough sell with their current situation. Ideally they would hire an alum who wouldn't bail before weathering the storm, but they just fired him, they are probably going all in for Heupel.

OM was the ones who "discovered" Norvell's dirt and spread it like wildfire, they probably have Napier agreed to in principle. Arkansas was never interested in him.

FSU isn't as great if a job as many believe you they have a recruiting advantage and that is about it.

Bielema owned Ole Miss in spite of their cheating arse and Freeze (their best coach in recent history). Only chaggie started the losing streak against the rebs.

Hire a better than shite coach and we will start up the winning streak again.

The only advantage they have is the talent level in Mississippi and the juco systems that help them improve that talent.

Other than that no advantage at all.

Facilities - nope
Boosters - nope
Better place to live - sorry for those Mississippi hog fans but an extreme nope

They are one of the founding SEC programs but they have never made it to the SEC championship game (#4thand25).

Not scared of Ole Miss.

nah but it does create urgency to get our guy ASAP. can't let this linger. If it's Kiffin then get it done, frick the conference championship game.

In regards to Mizzou ---- probably already posted:

safe space u sucks

Mizzou just officially lost $10 MM due to NCAA sanctions, already had the 2nd lowest football revenue in the SEC, has an athletic dept. running in the red, has to buy out Odom and his staff and attract a new HC and staff, despite scholarship and recruiting reductions. Good luck.

Start a thread, "Lane train is in Fayetteville frickers"

Plus, they split this recruiting advantage with Mississippi State - the arguably better football program since the BCS days began.

I'm worried these programs will leave us in the dust if we make the wrong hire, but I'm not worried about them outmuscling us for the one we truly want.
