Happy that it looks like Starkel will be the starter because I believe he is the much better QB, gotta suck for Hicks though.

Hicks is starting the scrimmage with the 1s as well tomorrow. Still feel like it’s gonna be Starkel at this point though

According to an "insider" on another board, not tardville, Starkel to be named starting QB tomorrow.
Well that was quick.

Was it quick for OSU and OU to name starters too?

I was hoping this would be the case. I think it is pretty obvious that starkel was gonna be the guy this year and next. I was worried hicks would start, and then be replaced.

In terms of Starkel passing Hicks. From the day he stepped on campus it was just a matter of time. Most predicted Hicks would start week 1 though, so the fact that he's the probable 1st stringer on the first release of the depth chart is ahead of schedule based on expectations when everyone arrived, thus it being quick.

Sorry your snark didn't work out for you.

So most predicted wrong, but Morris named his starter after the other two schools that I mentioned, yet it's fast.

You are so dull sometimes. It has absolutely nothing to do with how quick our starter was named compared to other programs.

Lot of rumors going around that Trey Knox could be out an extended period of time with this mysterious illness.

Would be just our luck.

Hicks had a great chance to be the first game starter, and with a solid performance be the starter, but everything we have heard from training is that Hicks has been disappointing while everyone around him has exceeded expectations.

Just from what we have heard I'd say its Starkel as the starter, JSJ as the back up, and then KJ getting quite a few snaps in 4 games this season before we put the redshirt on him. Maybe he edges out JSJ as the backup for the first few games, but the staff seems very high on Jones as a game manager type QB.

Looks like Brenden Young, Tyson Morris, Jack Lindsey, Jimmie Stoudemire and Blake Kern we’re all given scholarships tonight.

Every school gives scholarships to walk ones who just their tail in practice whenever you have them to give. Especially in Tyson Morris’s case since he’s probably gonna see some PT at receiver this year anyway

Stoudemire is a WR that will never play but he’s a SR I believe.

We had to put 5 guys on scholly to get to the 85 in order to bring early enrollees in next Spring. Looks like he picked some upper classmen and some deserving guys who will contribute like Kern and Morris

This. It’s not the Bielema model but a requirement so that they have to hit in order to better position themselves in recruiting. It was inevitable that some walk-one were going to benefit from it.

Brandon Burlsworth started as a walk on. Yes, some of them eventually earn a scholarship. Quit being obtuse.

Third year in the program when players are given scholarships those scholarships only count against the 85 number too, not a specific signing class.

is it just me or have the new guys at arkansas fights been disappointing so far. I miss the cool random stats and deep dicing breakdowns of historical games. they offered something different than what you got elsewhere
