Agreed... Why not catch Leach and put Turner at DH or 1st. Can't be any worse than the current lineup and should be better defensively.
Yep, and I’ve been saying it for weeks now. Move Turner to DH and put Leach behind the dish.
It’s not like Leach would be a hole in our batting order since half our lineup is comprised of a bunch of midweek all stars who hover around the Mendoza Line against SEC competition.

It’s Hobbs’ fault that 4 runs is enough to beat this team 95% of the time?
It's Hobbs fault that our starters and pen are absolute garbage.
And spare me with the era stats
Nate's fault that we can't hit the baseball.
Plenty of blame to go around.

Didn't even bother watching the game. Saw DVH missed the game, did he have a vagina transplant?

Did you just start watching Arkansas baseball last Saturday? Or are you just recycling complaints of last year’s team, where this would have been more accurate.

I like how no one ever says a word about DVH and he's the head coach.
Even as he nears retirement real soon and with no rings.
A major staff shakeup + huge transitional roster sure makes it hard to see DVH having enough left for another run, but if he can go 2-3 more years can gear up for one final shot at a natty.

Well, Your wish is my command.
In the top 6-7 of college coaches pay, and even among the top 20 when considering Major League Managers comparison.
It is His job to see the disparity from the past, to the present. In the past couple of days, a poster here said something to this affect "Not sure he wants to coach much longer". Well, now would be the time for DVH to figure that out. Not after a few more years of these assistants and these results. I would love to see him stay around a while but some changes need to be made period.
We should be more than capable with our current talent to do better than this. That is for sure.
Ok, Rant over!

Yep, the defense falling apart, the poor baserunning, the poor lineup decisions, losing the team/locker room to where they have looked checked out for weeks...all that falls on the head man.
People scapegoat way too much for DVH sometimes.

We should really save these melts for after the postseason.
We're really good basketball fans but we're not the best baseball fans, and I'm referring to understanding when and when not to melt. We'll support anything that's not coached by Chad Morris.
That said, our starters are worrying right now, specifically Noland seemingly losing some inches in his curveball drop and Wiggins' confidence looking shakier by the start, but things can turn quick.
Our starters were getting rocked near the end of the season in 2009 before putting it together, Campbell was the least trustworthy pitcher in Arkansas history in 2018, etc.. It's baseball, things change quickly and its all about getting hot when regionals start.
I'll save my melt until we get 2 and Q'd from the regional.

To put it bluntly, this has looked like a poorly coached team for most of the season, and most glaringly over the past few weeks.
This is the first season where I’ve actually questioned DVH’s decision making in games and with some of the lineups.
Not bunting twice against A&M when our bats were quiet and we had two in scoring position, some of the DH decisions, some of the batting order moves, some of the bullpen decisions (continuing to trot out Ramage and Zeb consistently), starting to stretch Tygart for 8 out saves more and more like he’s Kopps despite being just a freshman, and the weirdly out of the blue “10% of the fans” rant which actually pissed people off, especially since we’re one of the scant few baseball programs which actually turns a profit.
We should have known something was off with this team when they lost their first home opener in 27 years, dropping the first game to Illinois State and ultimately only scoring 11 runs in that three game series where the games were way too close for comfort. We should have known something was off when we faced Stanford and looked like we didn’t belong on the same field as them. Or when we came back to Fayetteville and lost the first game of the Northeastern series. Or having to go to extras against UCA in Little Rock.
In three weeks we’ve gone from leading the West and likely being a top 8 seed to finishing second in the West and likely not even hosting a regional. We can start throwing those 2021 Mississippi State comparisons out the window now.

Nah. With free agency in college sports a roster can be rebuilt overnight. We need DVH to be like Muss and make some business decisions. Continue to bring in elite HS kids but there’s no point in bringing in marginal guys and hope to develop them when there’s proven upperclassman that would kill to play at buam.
Our best 2 hitters are transfers. Did we get any pitchers from the portal?
It’s hard for me to believe DVH would step down right after getting the best practice facility in college baseball. But like everyone in college sports he’s got to adapt to free agency.

Unfortunately, DVH will never win a natty. He'll go down in history like that FSU coach that never won one. It'd be best for him to retire after the season is over and us hire Vitello, IF he'd even come here. He's hungry for a championship and knows how to adapt to the transfer market like Muss. Vitello would kill it here and win multiple nattys.

Yep and our top talent was when he was recruiting them here.

I think the alarming thing for me is at no point do I feel like we have ever gelled like a normal team. There's not a leader of the team. Just uninspired baseball and no flow.

I hate your post, but agree with all of it.
I think we've lost our window to get Vitello, especially if he wins it this year.

I hope like hell he doesn’t win it this year for multiple reasons, partially because I hate Tennessee (especially this iteration of their baseball team) and partially because it’d close the door on an already slim chance to get TV as DVH’s successor.
I don’t think we get Vitello anyway since UT has opened the wallet to support baseball and ponied up for new facilities. He’s shown he can win there at a high clip, so why come here and be ‘the guy who follows the guy’ when he’s already ‘the guy’ at Tennessee.

That damned foul ball was an opportunity lost for DVH. I believe he rebounded better the next year but last year against NCST, it was another Batman back breaking moment. I believe that was worse than the foul ball because he organized the talent to win it all but left it at the supers.
A coach can only have so many bad moments before they question themselves and see if they really have it or not. At some point a program is gaining momentum or they go the opposite. Arkansas is beginning to lose some momentum.

That's the way I view it. He can stay there and be the one who made Tennessee baseball. I wished their fan support was similar to Florida's in baseball, but it isn't. Those frickers are supporting the shite out of their team, which is also unfortunate for us.

Let's pump the breaks before we get to this point. We had a losing season in 2016 and were an out away from winning the whole thing 2 years later, which was the beginning of an Omaha-Omaha-Covid-Super Regionals stretch.
I think this is just a team with a lot of talent that hasn't clicked for whatever reason. It happens. If it continues next year then I'll be worried.

Definitely losing momentum. And with a coach set to retire within the next couple years tops.
We'll be at a serious crossroads and have to nail the hire or we'll become South Carolina 2.0.
