Nice series win.

34-10
14-7

3 SEC series left. 6 wins to 20 wins in league play for the fourth straight 20 win league season. Would be the best stretch in school history since joining the SEC.

Pisses me off to think that Pallette staying healthy alone would have completely transformed this pitching staff. Imagine being able to throw Noland on Saturday and move Wiggins back to the pen.

How much longer does he stay as the day three starter?

I’m not trying to defend Wiggins but I feel like our MO for several years now is to be happy for our Sunday guy to go 3-4 innings and only give up 1 or 2 runs. And I feel like 2/3 of the time, Wiggins gives you that. Yeah he’s prone to a clunker. I guess it doesn’t hurt to give McEntire or somebody else a shot but with Wiggins you at least sorta know what you are gonna get.

Maybe DVH will mix it up with only 1 midweek game remaining.

Wiggins gets shelled in every 1st inning it seems. Then does good for 2-3 innings after if he gets that long.

True but bats are still super meh.

Just gotta roll with it though and hope they wake up at some point.

In terms of takeaways from this series, this is the elephant in the room.

We plated 2 runs on Friday, 4 runs today, and we only had 3 on the board before Diggs’ homer to end game 2.

Tangential to that is the fact that every score in this series for us came on a home run. We’ve got to find a way to start piecing together some multi-hit/walk rally innings.

Look at the SEC only stats since COVID year (2020 was washed):

It would shock me if DVH changed it up this late in the year. I'd bet he stays the Sunday guy unless he just completely goes off the rails.

Unrelated note: Charlie Welch didn't play anywhere near enough while he was here.

Hoping Diggs does his best Charlie Welch impersonation down the stretch here.

I’ll give Hobbs a bit of credit. We actually have a few bullpen arms they trust this year, and the team ERA is down a full run.

Thompson on the other hand…eesh. Our hitting numbers have gone in the wrong direction. BA and HR are not too far off the pace from last year, but hits, walks, and RBI are way down.

We would be so much better...
