Acuff to the Kings @ 7
Thomas and Taliban still on the board for round 2.
Kings have the 34 & 45 pick in round two and need a shooter and a long wing.
Could it happen?
Also, is Thomas kicking himself? At best he gets rookie minimum 1.5 for 2/3 years.
Had he came back and worked himself i to a late lottery pick he makes closer to 19m over 5 years
I’d kick myself for the remainder of my life losing out on that many millions.
Memphis has pick 32 so he could land there if they don’t trade the pick.

Thomas should have stayed another.
I didn't believe he was first round material.
He got some bad advice.

I wish he'd have come back, but I'm not sure he's better than the new guys we got either. He could possibly have hurt his draft stock if the young guys beat him out being better defenders and more explosive. He was a lights a shooter though, hopefully he gets drafted in a good spot round 2

His agent was also the agent for RJ Luis who turned down huge money to return to St Johns only to go undrafted and is now begging to go back to college. Rough.

He could've made that here if he stayed. Cal told him. Maybe one day one of these guys would learn their lesson from someone else.

At what point does the NBA ban an agent like this?

The 2 Hogs go back to back.

I think in a normal year Thomas should have gone into the draft. But this one was top heavy for guards and he was Robin to Acuff's Batman.

Leek’s confidence probably helped convince him to stay in the draft

Yes, there are no guarantees. It's not certain that he would have improved his draft stock, and could have possibly worsened it or got injured.
People act like getting drafted in the second round is bad. There's only 2 rounds! Dude played one year of college and is making money in the NBA now. That's a win for him and his family.
"He could have made more money if he stayed." Ok, maybe he didn't want to be in college anymore? Now he's part of an NBA organization with better facilities, trainers, nutrition, etc. Why waste another year in college to *possibly* make a little more money. I say get out when you can, again there's no guarantees.

Yeah, on a base level it seemed like a suspect decision at best but maybe he felt like he wasn’t going to get enough pt or exposure with the new guys. Who knows? Sucks for him and he played hard and well for us.

It gets hard to remember guys who only play one year, whether their first or last. But I think I'll remember Maleek's no look three. He'll be alright.

I think you’re probably right. As great, and I do emphasize great as Acuff was - we didn’t get to see a lot of progress on defense(granted, there are many valid reasons due to us being suspect in other areas and him having to carry a huge load on his shoulders). But Thomas showed major improvement in all facets throughout the season and he will probably be a steal and can do some incredible things in his own right. So yeah, if it were me(and I’m biased), I’d pick him over some of the others that were selected ahead of him.

Looks like Maleek made the right decision after all. 4 years $9.3 million with 3 years and $6.4 million guaranteed. More than picks 26-30.
