That is as close we will ever get. The fact that State is now champs when people from the outside believed the Mississippi schools were cursed and could never win anything.

This is a nightmare.

If that was true but you know the end times are near when State wins a title in the big three.

If Ole Miss wins it in baseball next year then wearing a brown paper bag over the head would be fitting.

Everybody in Hoover next year is going to get run-ruled and go the hell home to rest up.

It’s not like Miss St just came out of nowhere lol they have a historical decent program in baseball and this was their 12th trip to CWS. We’ll get one.

Y'all are overreacting. I'm not buying this b.s that the window has closed for us. We have a great program that is reloading. The atmosphere, facilities and support coupled with the new NIL stuff put us in a great position going forward.

It would be unbearable if those clowns in Oxford won before Arkansas.

Now that would be pretty bad and shameful.

Considering how the other sports responded such as the 69 game with Texas, Arkansas football wasn't the same and has since struggled. It broke Frank Broyles.

The only reason Arkansas won it in basketball was because of Nolan. If it was anyone else then it wouldn't have happened. Nolan was a special type of person that greatness would follow him when he endured a tough childhood.

The 2018 CWS second game, Arkansas should have won just like Arkansas let it slip away with Texas. Opportunities like that are rare here and if it isn't taken advantage of then for some reason get punished in the exact opposite way.

I'm sure Mississippi State fans felt the same way when they lost to UCLA in the championship series in 2013. Maybe that means we'll win it all in 2026 lol

It could happen as 69 and 18 were both similar events as Arkansas had those games won. Both are haunting events as older fans have told me that Arkansas football didn't recover fully from the Texas game. 50 million tuned in to watch as Texas won in the end. Frank Broyles went to his grave never watching film of that game.

Arkansas would play Ole Miss in the Sugar bowl but all the players except one were still in shock and grieving over the loss. Ole Miss jumped big early but won a close one in the end. The same happened to the 2018 team in the third game of the CWS.

The Texas game caused Frank Broyles to retire at an early age of 52. The loss took a toll on his mental state. Did the foul ball event take a lot out of DVH? No one can say that an event such as that wouldn't change a coach and DVH isn't immune to those negative effects. As confident as Frank Broyles was, the Texas loss changed him and didn't have the same confidence a bout himself as before. Did DVH go through this? No one knows but him. Soon we will find out if DVH will ever get back to the CWS finals or that was his highlight of his career.
