I do not think it is a great secret that Kendall Briles wants to be a head coach. Being a head coach in Texas would be even better. Even if it is out in Lubbock.

Who could blame him if that happens?

If it does happen I say Mazel Tov. While I think he can get a bit cutesy at times our offense has thrived under Briles. Yes, losing a coordinator can be bad, look at Coach O, but Pittman strikes me as someone who could find a replacement and if that involves bringing Lunney back to the Hill I'd be fine with it.

Exactly. It's gonna happen sooner or later. I say best of luck to him and hope the hiring cycles align to bring him back here after he rocks out in Lubbock

Why do coaches always have to have an Arkansas tie?

I’d say our best coaches didn’t.
Then we always hire the worst coaches with Arkansas ties, instead of Jimmy Johnson or Barry Switzer.

This thread has been hard to follow... not sure when we are talking about TTU job and when we are talking about next OC if Briles leaves.

So.... for TTU job.... Traylor would be the hot name in the mix for sure but Dykes probably the safer choice and I don't think it has been mentioned but his dad was a TTU legend as HC.

I would love to see Lunney or Stepp back at UA as OC at some point in the future. Not sure if either will happen.

So we didn’t get Holtz over JJ or Barry Switzer?
Kept Nutt way past his prime.

Isn't Lunney OC at UTSA right now? I may be mistaken but I think he is.

never said they needed to

this particular guy has the 14th ranked defense in the nation after 8 games

so we should not hire him because he's got Arkansas ties?

yes he is the OC... "good" ... I mean they are 8-0 and putting up a lot of points so he seems to be doing ok.

Stepp?

he's like 38 years old and he's never coordinated an offense in his career

are we waiting for him to get his feet wet at Austin Peay by the age of 45?

plus he ditched us for South Carolina and oversaw our wide receivers during the Chad Morris debacle

ETA frick the Hogville bullshite Stepp love

ETA: I'm not cussing you El Dorado

I just lose my mind when I see "Hogville" attached to the opinion of a topic

I don't deny that I'm partly mentally ill and need God's grace more than anyone on the planet

No worries.... if I EVER cite Hogville PLEASE give me a lifetime ban sir!!!!

As for Stepp I just got to know him while he was here and I really like the dude. Thought he was a good fit here. No clue if he is OC material. He recruited our area and I had several conversations with him. Dude really knows WR play as good as anyone I've ever talked to.

Should hire Tyler Wilson or Mallett.
Mallett is coaching over in Mountain Home or something.
And Tyler Wilson is just doing hits on the radio during important games.

They could both move into HC next year, let’s get rid of Sam.

I really hope this was sarcasm.

I feel like it shouldn't have to be said that Ryan Mallet isn't cut out to be a head coach at any SEC program, or really anywhere for that matter

Maaaaybe an OC or quarterbacks coach if he's matured any, he was great at reading defenses and coverages

Money all spends the same, his exwife is a Florida girl and his kids are still in Boca Raton last I heard. Chasing young coeds and milfs on yachts. Having yachts or tutes and blow to entice recruits. Warren Sapp and other Miami players have been recruiting Kiffin.

He gets a couple big money donors to build some facilities, less pressure. Will still win the ACC and go to the playoffs.

Then just wait out Saban for Alabama

So in a future potential scenarios it could be great there assuming you can sell ice to Eskimos and get kids to come play in empty stadiums

College football is declining. I doubt a 12 playoff will slow it down. Bama being dominant as they are has killed parity and in turn the interest level has faded. Not even the Bear years was that one sided.
