Matt Jones Today with an interesting Comment

Said he asked Body by Herb once if he ever worked with the track program or had plans to work with track coaches for advice on speed training and workouts and ways to make his the football Team faster. Herbs answer.... No....
Jones said they had 8 or so guys every year (mainly skill guys) on his teams go work the track team evey off season to work on speed.
Honestly, I think Herby is as big a problem as Fatass with this team. "hey, let's take guys who are already slow for the SEC and make sure they can squat a truck instead of working on raw speed and athelticism!

Hey let's not use the best track program in America to our advantage

I'm ready for Bert to be fired

Shocker.
You'd think when they realized there wasn't enough snow to pull sleds in the winter they've had thought of this.

body by herb should have ended. all our sophomores are slower. your freshmen shouldn't be your perpetual speedster.

Yeah their offseason plan will be to put on 35 pounds on Hayden.

This x100. The resources are there, fricking use them. We pay BB way too much money for the product he's putting out on the field.

Just wait until Hayden is playing at 260 next year.

They had Austin Cantrell at 270 last year, makes sense

It’s been obvious from day 1 they didn’t value speed or quickness when they don’t test speed drills. Development and evaluation wasn’t a priority.
Luckily this last recruiting class has some speed in it.

As someone who's been thoroughly outspoken for a few years now about how bad Herbert has been, I couldn't agree more.
He may very well be the worst strength and conditioning coach in the SEC.

I couldn't be in the media because I'd get fired for asking these coaches why they are so stubborn and keep doing the same things that aren't working.
If you see your team is slow and don't do anything about it then why are you not even trying at your job

Not to mention the amount of injuries we have sustained that could be related to the training program (i.e. broken feet by Herb)

Bielema had mentioned working with Bucknam this off-season.

Come on now. Herb is teaching these kids valuable horticultural lessons with his plant "allegory." You can't put a price on that.
Seriously... I was a HUGE fan of Herb because I love his fitness philosophy... if he were my personal trainer. I'm not sure that he has what it takes to be a S&C coach in the SEC, though.

The sad thing is this is the least shocking news to come out of the Arkansas football program in years. Big and slow is fine for offensive linemen. Its less desirable in running backs and WRs.
Even with a 3-4 defense to get more speed on the field we look slower then Bert in a digestive torpor. Not something you want to try and counter the modern spread offense with. Add to that the longer they are here the less breakaway speed our offensive skill players seem to have and you've got a real problem.
Body by Herb might be fine, as someone said, as a personal trainer. He's far from idle for an SEC S&C coach.

We do look faster than 4 3 look we rolled out previously though. I still can't figure out why we never blitz and when we do why we're always too slow

You guys remember that "when the lights go out" garbage.
What a joke.

probably should keep lights on until we prove we won't break our feet walking across weight room in the dark.
