I enjoy the division between the NWA and the rest of the state, please continue.

There were more than 49k there and everyone who was there knows that.
Judging by the empty benches and the sheer number of Ole Miss fans making noise, I can only assume there were 35k fans at WMS on Saturday.
The fact that you have to defend NWA’s lack of turnout just proves everything about the shitty environment.
But keep on with your “muh nice stadium” tantrum

It doesn't have to be defended. The University is there. Playing in LR (away from home) has to be defended. The environment could be terrible (which it isnt) but it wouldn't matter. The University should play in the 80,000 capacity stadium where it can host recruits rather than the distant, 55000 seater where it cannot host recruits.

They play every year once at Jerry's and once in LR.
Both games struggle to draw much more than 50k. They give away so many tickets in Dallas that its ludicrous. Not sure it really helps recruiting, but that's Chad's call not mine.
I live in LR...think the atmosphere at WMS is good for SEC games, but I'd be fully for playing all our games in Fayetteville.

Outside of hosting recruits and ‘muh stadium’, the gameday atmosphere is 100x’s better than what the NWA people put on.

All of the games should probably be played in Fayetteville. However, the atmosphere and crowds are louder at WMS.

Heard this was the biggest crowd the Hogs have played in front of this year. If so, what's up Fayetteville?

It is amazing, have a crappy season... just bring up the WMS/RRS debate and sit back and watch.
Geeze, the offseason cant get here fast enough.

The announced attendance (tickets bought) was 51,438. There was no way to do actual attendance (tickets scanned) because wms conveniently can't afford ticket scanners.
The highest announced attendance (tickets bought) for HOME games in Fayetteville is 64,974 for the Bama game.
Actual attendance for that game was 49k.
If this is actually 49k:
Than this is actually 34k:
AND this is at the peak during the game. I could do what every little rock media member does and post pregame pictures like this and make wms look real bad:

Just reporting what was on the radio.
Wasn't one of those fake news stations.
ETA: That second picture wasn't the 'peak' attendance. I was there, I know what I saw.
Third picture: Some folks didn't come out of the dry and get in the stands until kickoff. This picture was late pregame.

Fieldturf requires upkeep - wms don't believe in upkeep or investing in the stadium..... unless it has to do with metal detectors - which they end up letting people walk around to get into the game b/c it's too hard for them to figure out to operate.
Speaking of operate. Are they ever going to get the play clocks to work?

quote:central arkansas? yeah - when it comes to the Razorbacks it's pretty much fake news. Half the people on central arkansas radio never go to a Razorback game or pay attention unless it's in little rock. Just look at the pictures and judge for yourself.

Hey, call the radio folks and complain. I'm just passing along info.
Yes, they said 'scanned' attendance. I don't know if the scanned the torn off stubs or what - but they said scanned attendance was the 51k figure.
I suppose they got the figures from the UA.
Also - never said it was totally packed. Yes there were some empty seats. But it was a damn good and loud crowd considering the miserable weather.

Crowd was good for the conditions and the team (1-5 going in) but it was nowhere near capacity, or tickets sold, or what HOME games on campus have had this awful season. I'll redo my number and say that in stadium wms probably had around 42k.
Now on the golf course..... much more than that.

By the way. I was one of those who showed up and sat out in the miserable, constant rain. Not inside.

quote:The UA always announces tickets bought.... ALWAYS. The 51k is just like the 64k for Bama. Tickets bought are the most important thing to them. Tickets bought = money.

quote:Why would I - it's central arkansas radio. The radio was also saying the game was sold out but there were plenty on the tickets site the day of the game. You know good and well if we pulled the "Oops.... we don't have ticket scanners crap" that they would be all over that and calling it bs. They feed into the gsd. They keep their listeners happy with the us vs. them and by telling them that little rock did their part and that they deserve more games yada yada.
Hey, call the radio folks and complain
If little rock residents are such die hard football fans than university of little rock needs to start their own football program. The money is there - make it.
