Just announced on twitter. Makes sense. Was gonna be hard for him to get PT with everyone we got coming in next year.

Yep. Got some ballers coming in. Room had to be made.

Expected a couple of these. Best of luck to Harris.

Does this open up a spot for a transfer to come in or do we need this spot for commits and Joe and Jones coming back?

Explains why the staff has been contacting so many guards in the portal right now.
Harris is set to graduate, yes this matters.

Wouldn’t mind taking a guard transfer who can sit out next year and immediately replace Joe/Jones assuming they come back next year. Even without Harris we should be much deeper next year.
Jones/Joe/Sills/Moody/Vanover
Davis/Robinson/Notae/Henderson/Williams
Not sure where Chaney or Iyiola fit in but should be interesting to see how it plays out. Wouldn’t surprise me either if Chaney and/or Henderson transfer too. Still a lot of fluidity, glad we’re doing due diligence with transfers just in case we lose both Joe and Jones.

Thanks for your effort Jalen.
Probably a good move for playing time.
Good luck next year.

Opens up a spot
13 Scholarships in basketball
8 Current scholarships
Jones
Joe
Sills
Chaney
Vanover
Notae
Iyiola
Henderson
4 New recruits coming in
1 Spot open
I'd still not be surprised one bit if another spot opened up

Henderson was the easy answer a few weeks ago. It probably does lean more Chaney atm.

I think Jones goes
There is no way he stays. He won't have a better year than this year so he can't improve his stock.

If he does go I think Notae ends up starting as the primary ball handler and Sills comes off the bench. Might mean we have Henderson and Vanover both in the lineup too.

I wouldn't go that far. He isn't going to make a major jump but still little things he can improve on. The problem is more that Jones isn't going to magically gain a bunch of athleticism by returning and that is probably his biggest knock overall.

Jones is a good college player, but he won't do much at the higher level. He's not that tall for a 2G, doesn't have great handles, isn't very athletic, nor is he very quick, not a great defender. He's got a good bsketball iq.

That's where he could make a real roll for himself at the next level. High IQ backup 2 that won't turn the ball over and can get a bucket on other backups and weaker defenders. Just staying on the roster is more than what's expected of most 2nd round draft picks. I don't think anyone sees him as a future potential starter, so no he won't improve his stock much, but I do think he can hang around in the league as a backup and solidy getting drafted for that role by coming back. It's not a sure thing he will get drafted this year.

Depends on where his priorities are. If he sees and acknowledges his ceiling in the NBA and decides he wants to make a run at winning as much as he can in college with the influx of talent we have coming in this year it could happen.

His brother wasn't as good as Mason was last year in college but Matt did stay all four years at Duke and won a national championship so maybe Mason wants to try for that too
At least he has an inside look at what playing in the D-league is like so he'll be able to make an informed decision.

Jalen to Georgetown. Good for him. I'm glad our castoffs go to places like WVU and Georgetown and not South Alabama and Furman.
