Lets Call Those Hogs...
The Opponent
Three years removed from a Division II National Championship, Central Missouri returns three starters from a team that went 14-15 last season and finished 12th in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA).
UCM returns four of its top five scorers from last season, including junior guard Spencer Reaves who led the team in minutes played and three-point field goals made and attempted. The Mules also return their top rebounder in Marquiez Lawrence, who pulled down 208 rebounds last season, good enough to finish sixth in the MIAA.
What Coach Anderson is Saying
“Our guys are excited. It is a grind when you have been going after each other. There are only so many matchups that I can create in practice. Now they get a chance to play someone other than themselves. I really believe they are looking forward to it. This is their team, this is a new season. They want to be one of the better teams not only in our conference but the country. There is work to be done, we will be a work in progress with so many new faces, so guys have to get familiar with one another in this kind of setting.”

I understand that you're cynical about everything right now because you hate your life, but this team is going to be good. We'll easily make the tournament.

We should. I'm not convinced I do think this year has potential to be good though. Put me down as cautiously pessimistic at this point

There's a lot to like about this team. Kingsley coming back is huge, he had a monster year. I think a lot of people lost sight of how much he improved because we didn't win that many games, but he proved that he can shine in a bigger role and he got out of Bobby's shadow.
We'll be one of the top teams in the country in assists and points per game, we have a ton of scorers and some good shooters. If Dusty has improved his game even a tiny bit, he'll be one of the best shooters in the country as well.
Finally we have depth. Last year we started the season with only 9 players, not even enough to have a real scrimmage. Now we've added quality players with guys like Jaylen Barford who had offers from Louisville, Iowa State, Florida, Wichita State, etc. He's the real deal, and we already have enough pieces in place for him to be successful without asking him to do too much.
I believe this will be Mike's best team here so far, really excited for the season.

It was an exhibition game so the players weren't going full tilt, but our lack of success from behind the arc (1-18) is a concern.

Dann 1-18? That's scary I thought that would be a strength for this team.
