On Grant Hall's show a few minutes ago they had a caller who asserted that Norvell has been passed over by Ole Miss of all schools for character issues. Couldn't pass their vetting process.

So it brings to mind the objection several had about Venables. "Why has Venables been passed over for other positions?"

Could we not ask the same of Norvell? Apparently he has been passed over by Ole Miss and Tenner both now. And we all know Ole Miss gives no fricks about character.

Things that make ya go hmm. Also makes me seriously question these people that are trying to force Gus and Norvell down our throats.

Well I knew they were saying that he had issues. The thing that was new to me was that he had been passed over by Ole Miss for this stuff.

According to a hit piece on a site run by an Ole Miss alum/fan, which has been debunked by those in the loop on the coaching search.

But it’s definitley out of character for Ole Miss to slander a coach to cover their asses amirite?

Ole Miss used the same search firm that recommended LSU hire O. That tells me more than I need to know about their hiring process.

Well if that's true there shouldn't be anything holding up an announcement.

Putting much stock in anything being said in the media right now is about as smart as buying what you read here, IMO.

Ole Miss has a Katrina sized shitstorm looming over their head called NCAA sanctions. The only coach who would take that job is someone who could never land it any other way.

Tennessee has put themselves in almost literally the same position, with the frickiest of clusterfrick coaching searches I have ever witnessed. No coach with more than a thimble full of gray matter would look at that athletic department and tell himself he would like to be employed by that.

Stories about either passing up legitimate coaching candidates that other P5 universities would even consider is beyond laughable.

I still think the ceiling is higher with Venables than Norvell, but this is nothing more than dickwad media types, saving university face, or slinging shite on those they had no chance with.

Given the state of the ole miss program why would someone like Norvell, or any highly targeted name, choose to coach there? Makes significantly more sense he turned them down. Doubt they had many even willing to have a conversation.

That's probably true.
The question becomes why not just announce Norvell if he's already been hired? Nobody would blame him for taking a step up in his career path.

Let's get the show on the road!

Another Arkansas media member?

If he's the guy, my guess would be all the pearl clutching over firing Bielema immediately after the game. Norvell still has games to coach this year.

Yeah. He has a new show on sports talk radio. It's on from 12-2 on 99.5 in NWA. It's a good show. Except his co-host is some douchebag named Vernon and he fricking sucks. He's super argumentive and talks over the host all the time. Lol

I'm pretty mad about the corn rows situation myself.

Joey Fresh would never.

I personally liked the helicopter move back when he was at UT.
