The Chicken man told HY to hire Cal. No way he pulls that hire off acting alone.
There's always going to be some booster (or boosters) that are the reason any big time school pulls a big time coach. That is nothing new.
Point is, if HY gets the blame for the failures, he should get the credit for the successes as well. Otherwise, it's a no-win job AT BEST.

We may have a little more talent than we think this year. I don't know how many of them are transfers, but we have, it think it is, 19 players that scouts are looking at.
Someone posted talent ranking + vs. - going into this year recently on the SECr and we were surprisingly higher than I thought. But until I see otherwise, don’t hold my beer because I need it.

It’s okay. I know I’m in a minority with my point of view. Most fans will give him credit for the cal hire which makes sense. I just don’t understand why we can’t compete with the Mississippi schools. Missouri, Oklahoma state etc. in NIL. But oh well regardless who the coach is or ad I’ll always cheer on the hogs. It’s my cross to bear so to speak rev
ETA: in my mind Pittman has already done what he was brought in to do. Bring us back a slight bit of respectability after the Morris debacle. Yes we still went 4-8 last year but we’ve got a few guys playing on Sunday now, and we did go to back to back bowl games. Hopefully the next hire won’t have to be a career O line coach when we’re in the market again whenever that may be.

Frank Broyles went 4-5-1 in 1967. We should have fired his arse.

They lost 5 games by one score or less, 6 by less than two scores, this with Dan Enos sabating the offense.
Win half of those and it's different topics being discussed.
They can just as easily miss a bowl as they can win 10 games with the schedule and the ball bouncing their way for a change.

That opening road stretch was brutal, I wonder how a team like mizzou would have done with that. And what we could have done with the schedule they had or have this year.
Schedules are keeping drink employed and Sam on the hot seat.
Last year’s late season collapse wasn’t all Sam’s fault but he does share blame for sure.

Yeah, I went about that wrong by bringing you into my comment. My mistake, nothing personal.
Just tired of the negativity.

quote:I get that but calling at the same time calling a spade a spade isn’t being negative for the sake of being negative. To look at the success cal had on the short amount of time he was here but then to turn around and say he’ll just waste it is overly negative. To say a coach who went 4-8 in year 4 might not make it to year 6 is just being a realist.

I see tons of people predicting us with 4 wins. It's very realistic and even very likely
Give it a few weeks and there will be even more with the same view

quote:see I’m not even going to predict 4 wins I’m just saying IF it does happen it will be the end of Pittman. But there’s people ITT saying that’s being a negahog. I guess if we only win 4 games in perpetuity we should just be thankful we won any at all and like it.

And rightfully so. If we are under 6 wins he should go

I would predict more than 3-4 wins if the QB position wasn't a question mark.
