A lot do. I've been saying it for years. The best investment the University could make is to find and good one and put them on staff. The kids have to buy in of course, but like they say "90% is mental and the other half is physical".

Tom Brady is a prime example. He sought one out during his time at Michigan.

The NIL era has changed the dynamic. If you're gonna demand a 7 figure NIL to play, you're not a kid playing for the love of the game and school

The school isn’t the one paying him tough. Fans pay professional athletes salaries through ticket sales and TV revenue. NIL is 99% business funded. Why should anyone get mad that a player isn’t “worth” what they are getting paid if they have zero skin in the game.

It’s hilarious that Billy Bob is pissed off that Nick Smith isn’t worth the car that Frank Fletcher is letting him drive

I wish I knew more about the nil rules.

Can a business have in the contract (Do not get paid, if you do not play a set number of minutes, or at least play at all?)

Human nature. Jealousy and the professionalization of amateur sports. If a kid is going to command that kind of money, he or she needs to be ready for some criticism if they don't perform. It doesn't make it right, but that's just how it is.

Yes, there have been players that had to repay their NIL after they transferred.

You can't feign injury and still get it. If doctors have cleared you and said you are good to go, and you don't. You may lose it. If you or your handlers don't think you are ready and get a doctor to agree, good luck getting paid. You're going to have to get an attorney involved and the truth of the situation will come out.

If you just suck and can't cut it, you still get your money.

The stats speak for themselves. There's no need to bash kids, but the stats do make it pretty clear who does what to help the team.

All our freshmen are just that...freshmen. Very good ones NSJ included...but they are playing against 22 and 23 year old men and sometimes it shows.

They all have some weaknesses and they all have some strengths and ability to make highlight plays. I'm glad we have them and it really isn't NSJ or any other players fault that grown men built them up to be the next coming of Kobe Bryant when in reality they are just very good young players.

Trashing Devo in any way is just stupid. That kid plays his a$$ off every second he's on the court. Gimme 5 with hearts like his and I'd never lose a game.

I want no park of NSJ.

I see a flailing defender, rebounder only when it's clear he won't get bumped and iffy scorer (at times).

i'd take several others on this team over him. Course, might be why I'm not an NBA executive.

We were 6-1 at one point before NSJ came back. The one thing that is undeniable is that we HAD developed chemistry and his return clearly disrupted it and it appears that Muss adjusted in a favorable way. We still need everything we can get out of Smith if he’s going to be on the court, but it’s hard to say after 3 years and two elite 8 appearances that Devo hasn’t earned the nod(if it’s between he and Smith starting). And yeah, I don’t think people are considering or ready to accept how gross NIL is going to continue to make things. At least we aren’t doing what Bama is with Brandon Miller though.

I am NOT bashing Devo. But we all know he has been a headcase at time... And Probably for good reason.

He has been incredible, and then not so great. NS was one of those problems IMHO. But now the order has been established. Hopeful that NS can get better very quickly and Devo continue his upward trend that he has in the tournament.

I love devo, and am somewhat appreciative of NS.

I don’t think anyone will dispute that Devo has been a headcase at times. I just hope our team is happy and stable and puts up a hell of a fight moving forward. Just think that NSJ coming back threw off chemistry no matter how you put it and hopefully we’re finding our groove. NSJ’s lack of ability to score in two consecutive tournament games and being a worse defender is enough though to start Devo over him, IMO(especially considered that Devo has major tournament experience). But who knows. I think UCONN is going to be too much no matter what. Tough draw.
