We would be leaving the most stable and lucrative college sports conference in America for a conference that is hovering on the brink of death.

50k size crowds would become the norm. UT, OU, and OSU might have as many fans at Razorback stadium as us.

Based on what? The only reason we haven't been filling the stadium is because we are that bad.

People will continue to buy tickets. THAT IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.

This is why I find it laughable that fans want to cheat for short term success.

We need a good coach who hires top quality assistants who will recruit well. And not just Texas. Everywhere. Even American Samoa if that is what it takes.

That is what successful coaches do. Even Ed Orgeron learned from his mistakes. We can too.

I don't see A&M fans bitching like little pussies.

A&M went out and paid 75 mil for new coach. Are they struggling right now, yes.
But they pulled the trigger and paid the money.

We hoard money for whatever reason. The only reason we are in this conference.

And attendance is just trending down. Adding thousands of seats to the stadium wasnt a smart move to begin with. Everyone likes to brag about being the one team of this state, no pro teams, and so on.. But we dont even fill out WMS anymore. This fanbase might not be as mighty as some of you build it up to be.

I agree it would suck for baseball, but why basketball?

Our fan base is beaten down. Why pay the money to go watch your favorite team get its shite kicked in when you can do it from the comfort of your own home?

All it will take is one 8+ win season and fans will start showing up again.

Yeah, I know the administration doesn’t care about the fans and only sees the bottom line. Part of what’s wrong with college football.

It's not the money.

I stated the problem in my previous post. Hire a coach who understands the importance of hiring top quality, experienced assistants who can do their job instead of lolly-gagging around making six figure incomes while stuffing their faces and pockets. Ed Orgeron has figured it out. Nick Saban figured it out a long time ago.

We lost a damn good one with Sam Pittman. We have had some good ones.

Ed Orgeron being god awful at Ole Miss and suddenly being “reformed” at LSU is a perfect illustration of my point. And lol at bringing up Saban. He was mediocre at Michigan State, and only won big once he got to LSU and Bama.

You still don't get it. They learned from their mistakes instead of repeating them. What were their mistakes? I answered that in my other posts. Make no mistake. Ed Orgeron is not the same coach he was at Ole Miss. He understands the dynamic for success. It take an entirely competent staff. And being able to delegate and manage that staff. Chad Morris never had to do that until he became a head coach. That hasn't been that long ago.

I don't sleep well and am always up before the birds. It has never been a problem. But thanks anyway.

have a new coach come in and win 6 games, get us to a bowl game with some experienced players staying for the next season and some hype and butts will be in the seats again.

Hope is what it takes, we have had the hope drug out of us, slang across a fence, beaten with razor wire, stripped of any dignity whatsoever and tried to force feed it back to us.

NOPE! Winning takes care of everything, not he conference.

LSU was the definition of mediocre before Saban got there. He made them what they are today.

You're right, we might have fewer conference championships too because of it. Oh wait!

You think recuits are gonna want to come to a program that went back to back winless in conference and thought so low of itself it decided to move to a weaker conference? That's what every recuit would see us as.

I'm thinking long term, not just the next class.

That was the 90's. They have had their problems with terrible hires as well.

They did have some really good teams before that time.

So, I'm not wrong?

FWIW, I hate talking like winning isnt important, or fans aren't important.

I know many of you, as myself, grew sick and tire of losing games with the talent we had under Houston Nutt. He made a lot of mistakes during that time. He made some of the same mistakes at Ole Miss. It got him fired. Speaking at the LR touchdown club yesterday, he addressed the topic of the SEC West. As much as I didn't like a lot of things about him at the time he left for Ole Miss, he brought up some very good points in the interview. And I'm glad I watched.

Go to the 4:50 mark. I have to admit, he understands the importance of recruiting, the psyche of the player, and is one helluva great motivator.

~13:00 minute mark, he talks about "bringing the wood".
