Why in the frick wasn't Starkel out there for like the entire second half?

If we see Hicks start against Ole Miss I'll start to question this dude as a coach.

I'll be honest, same. Thank Hicks for coming and helping lead the team in the camps, then tell him he's not the guy. It's just how it is.

I didn't want to get too critical in the game thread, but seriously, WTF?

I REALLY hope this Portland State game was just the bone he decided to throw Hicks for transferring.

Part of me wants to think this was Chad giving him his last shot. We sucked today offensively but even our worst offense didn’t lose this game thankfully.

Starkel has to get the job next week.

Starkel stepped up and heroically wiped two scoring opportunities off the board with stupid decisions. Hicks was poo but he didn't take points off the board in scoring positions.

I get it. You are mad about the game and how we played. But based on what I saw Starkel might have higher upside but he has a much lower downside.

Starkel or Hicks... they won't make me question whether Morris is a bad coach. Another game like this, no matter which of those two we start, will.

i too am confused why we didnt see starkel in the second half. not the entire half, but not at all. it really doesnt make sense.

hicks is clearly not the guy. he was throwing lame ducks all night. a real team has at least 3 picks off him.

im not going all chicken little yet but yeesh we have a lot to figure out this week if we want to avoid something similar to last season

Morris has seen these guys practice all year and has probably seen dumb throws by starkel over and over, the same that we saw on his first two throws.

All of his nice throws were against a prevent defense.

Hicks is bad. Starkel makes poor decisions. We appear to have not upgraded by very much in the QB position.

Still. A win is a win. Maybe one of them seizes the reigns for the next game.

Off the top of my head, while he made some absolute bone headed decisions, I'd start Starkel and hope he does well enough to off set the dumb mistakes. But its not like, if Starkel is the backup, that we are benching the second coming of Joe Ferguson here.

agree with all of this. Starkel has the much better arm and I think his decision making will be better when he’s not looking o we his damn shoulder. Give him the reigns let him settle in and relax and let him swing it around to the goons we’ve got at receiver. Burks and Knox both look like animals out there and warren looks fast as hell too. The line is still dogshit and Cunningham was pretty fricking pathetic for how much praise he got coming in. Colton Jackson should be ashamed with how bad he is as a senior with how long he’s played

No. You don't get it. I'm not mad about the game. I figured on this type of outcome, even if I was a little overconfident in our ability to put up points.

I'm just saying, Starkel is the better QB and I'm hoping that it's true that Morris just threw the Hicks kid the start out of loyalty. Because this truly is a case where your better QB was on the bench.

Hell, you even said it yourself. In your next post you said you would start Starkel.

Nah, I don't think you really get it.

Cole Kelley had 2 TDs against Jacksonville State Thursday, maybe we can ask him to come back

Do you mean, did I get the part where Starkel was handed a chance to become the starter on a golden platter and promptly threw a pick? Or the part where he kept us from kicking a FG thanks to a boneheaded play?

You are white knighting for a guy that sucked the meat missile today. Granted, the other guy also gobbled that crank. But you are going all in on a turd here.

I would make Starkel the starter not because he was clearly better, he clearly wasn't, but because we might get lucky and he might make one or two good plays to offset the dumb arse ones he will make. Hicks won't make any plays one way or the other.

This is like last year when everyone was loudly proclaiming that if only Cole Kelly was the starter we'd start winning. Then we made him the starter. After that, not so many people clamoring for Cole.

You are loudly calling for us to start Cole 2.0. Slow your roll. See who gets named the started for Ole Miss.

Hicks should have been picked off 3 times today. 1 of them for sure was a pick 6.

Don't really get bashing Starkel for being put into a 2 minute offense straight off the bench. Yeah he made the wrong choice, but I'm not ready to hover that over him as a reason he shouldn't start, especially after the wounded ducks Hicks was slinging all over the field today.

Hicks should have been intercepted at least three times. Ugh. Okay. I'm tuning out on football til next season. I hope Starkel is still around by then.

Which 3 passes are you referring to? I'm aware of one for sure.
