How many seasons do y'all think it will take to become competitive and respected again in the SEC?

I'm thinking it will be the third year before we are at least a dark horse candidate for a division title.

Big change in offensive philosophy, need for an influx of a different type of player...

Hoping to see glimmers next year, real improvement the following, and hitting stride by 3rd.

I guess it depends on what you mean. I think somewhere between 5-7 wins in the regular season is what we are looking at

Goo coaches win and win quickly. We should be bowl eligible tg is upcoming season tbh and at least 8 wins in year 2 or I will be sharpening my pitchfork once again. Going 8-5 is a very very realistic expectation and should be our basement. If you can't get us there then buh bye

I think we come out big next year and surprise everyone. Maybe get 8 wins, and a couple of big wins. The expectations for the following season will be huge, and then we will regress to a 6 win season, and everyone will want to fire Chad Morris. So is the way with AR football.

7-8 next year should have been possible even with Bert. SO, I think we're going to turn heads right away. Our cupboard isn't full but there are a few players I'm excited to see in his O (Jones, OMGHammonds, Hayden)

The Gus hope left such a void that any hire was going to feel kind of #MEH. The more I research, the more I move to mast. He checks all of the boxes except being a big name and being undefeated at his current job.

People will grow to love him. My biggest problem with him is his name.. may he be the first cool Chad I've ever met.

I agree with the third year estimate. It may happen sooner I suppose, but it's gonna depend on how quickly they can turn the offensive line into a respectable unit. Also, the defense is a big problem right now. If we can land Venables it would help a lot. We need as many good recruiters we can get our hands on.

My fear in all this is people don't have enough patience left in them after five consecutive mediocre to downright terrible seasons in a row. I think Morris could end up being a really good hire if given enough time.

Good grief.

What's our nickname for the coach?

What are we going to call the offense?

And then the inevitable predictions of 8 wins first year, and contending for the division the second.

If it happens, great. But why not prepare yourself for 3-9? It's a lot more likely than 8-4.

If Morris is the guy (nothing official yet) we are about to go through a sea-change with the program. Granted, Bielema did not turn out to be a good fit for us, and probably wasn't anywhere close to as good as most thought, but why go the full Tennessee/Gruden ignorance with expectations at this point?

Wouldn't it be tremendously better for all involved to be pleasantly surprised by a 7-5 first year after planning on a 5-7 year?

We don't know the first thing about what is going to happen yet. We don't even know for certain that we have our coach. We don't know who will be the OC (less important) the DC (very important) or who any of the assistant coaches will be.

Come on Hog fans. Let's not set this guy up for failure with unrealistic expectations. Let's expect trouble, hiccups, and failures. Let's expect there to be holes in players/personnel that slow down progress.

tl/dr: Never go full Tardville.
