I would think that if his contract says his buyout is reduced if he’s fired after a losing season, then there’s an incentive for the university to wait until the season is over to fire him. Although, maybe that clause still takes effect before the end of the season if we go something like 2-7, making it impossible to have a winning season. Would depend on the wording I guess
At this point I wouldn’t care if they canned him tonight

He fired Chad during the season. Don’t think that’s gonna happen this time. Chad was a cancer. Pitt is just a bad head coach.

That's not what it says.
"If Arkansas chooses to terminate the agreement, it would owe Pittman 75% of his remaining salary and other compensation, including earned and achieved escalators, through the end of the term if the program’s winning percentage, starting with the 2021 season, is 50% or better.
If the football team’s winning percentage is below 50%, the UA would owe Pittman 50% of his remaining salary and earned incentives through the end of his term."
He was 16-10 the previous 2 years. As long as he wins one more this year his buyout won't be reduced.

Am I just imagining things, or has Yurachek more or less admitted that he will not fire a coach during the season and only will when the season is over? Like it's some personal rule of his as AD that he's said publicly?
Or am I thinking of someone else?
That is the way it should be done, you aren’t really given any more advantage by firing him now. And he probably won’t even do it right after the Black Friday game. He will do it on Saturday or Sunday so the other games take away from it. No way he is going to tell him on the field like Bielema and let him have a crying at the podium moment so we look like assholes to a affable guy.
Hunter should be back dooring meetings and talks with everyone on his short list, and if he doesn’t actually have a list, then he should be gone too.

He gave Mike, who was just a bad coach, close to a week didn’t he?

I wasn't asking him to rub it in his face, I was legitimately asking if he's hearing anything that changes his opinion that Sam will be here another year regardless. I know he has legitimate people with inside knowledge

When I posted what I did, a Bot member told me period... "He will not be fired this season" The reasonings given to me were as follows.
1. Recruiting has ticket up, and the general overall feeling concerning the program is up as well.
2. Sam has straightened out the defense, shown major improvement there.
3. Who else would have taken the job, prior to Pittman with all that had happened? which gives a longer leash.
4. $$$$ will be used for the basketball program and baseball program in the near future.
Now, I would figure there would be some caveats in all of this. Nobody in the world believed we would lose this game today. Most saw this as a win, FIU as a win, and another of Florida, Aub, or Mizzou getting 5 wins and a shortened leash. But this one... well, what can anyone say about this?
THis is unacceptable on every level. To play as well as we have against LSU, Ole Miss and Bama then lay this egg... Damn!

dude, I don't care if you or anyone is rubbing my face in it. I wrote it, and therefore accept any rubbish it brings. It's fine.
I have let my feelings be known on here a few days ago with the Briles information. Hate to see it, but it is time to make major, MAJOR changes. I hang on longer than most, glass half full kind of guy. My belief is that we will never have the recruiting/NIL to truly challenge the upper echelon of our conference. So, build, condition, and development is what would work with the right coach. What Bowden did at Fla State, Dabo at Clemson, etc. It sucks. Fire away!

Yes, as a collective though. That means basketball and baseball (and all the other smaller sports) included.
I think a chunk of our NIL effort - that any other major program throws 100% towards football - is going more towards basketball and baseball. We still have a majority of our NIL going towards football, but the two other big sports take a bigger piece of the pie than most other ADs

Agreed. We need to up our NIL game however. If Hy were as shrewd as he ought to be. When Pittman is let go, get the Nil game hitting hard towards our future. Blast it everywhere. A new coach will want to see the efforts we have made in NIL .. if he is worth a dang!

This is actually the reason I'm more convinced than I have been in the past, that we will actually land a big hire this go-round. The support and facilities are there from every angle, the rest of the sports within our AD are killing it showing you can win and be successful at Arkansas.
The playoffs and SEC are both expanding, and there's no other programs in the conference other than maybe Mississippi State or South Carolina that'll be coach shopping this year. A&M is a longshot with that buyout and their top classes, Petrino needing time and their starting QB hurt. Other than that, we'd be the premier job in the top conference coming open this year, whereas next you might be competing with aTm and UF next.
That, plus the massive pay bump (I don't believe HY will want to go cheap for this critical hire) will be too good to pass up for at least ONE great, up and coming hire out there.

If you’re going to make a change, it has to be this year when your only competition in conference might be South Carolina. That alone makes this year the year you pull the trigger early. You also then hed in to the “new” SEC with headlines and excitement instead of getting picked to finish 15th out of 16 schools and then going up against 3-5 schools for a head coach next year.
