Stolen from the MSB, but still pertinent. Thank goodness for HY.

Paul Finebaum was recently asked to share his reaction to that outcome during his weekly Monday morning appearance on Birmingham-based WJOX 94.5 FM radio show “The Roundtable” and if he thought Miles regrets taking the Kansas job.

The ESPN and SEC Network analyst didn’t disappoint in his response.

“I had a mutual friend of ours on, I think, Tim Brando the other day telling me what a good job Les Miles has done,” Finebaum said on the air. “I now just keep my mouth shut when somebody (that visits Kansas) and talks to Les. I saved my ‘Les Miles as a clown’ take for this show. I just don’t know how anybody can take Les Miles seriously.
“How many games, he’s played 13 games and he’s got two losses to Coastal Carolina? I mean, that’s what we saw in the last year or two at LSU.
Now, it was a different level, but you know, I mean he ended up getting fired primarily because he lost to Wisconsin in an opener at Lambeau Field. That’s at least a legitimate loss but he lost because he was just so stubborn.”

Finebaum also didn’t hold back on Miles’ boss, former Arkansas AD Jeff Long, who now runs the Kansas athletic department.

“I don’t think Les Miles really regrets it, what I can’t understand is why he got the job in the first place,” Finebaum continued. “Jeff Long clearly was just going into the yellow pages of fired famous coaches with national championships.

“And secondly, I’m still trying to figure out why anybody who covers the game thinks this was going to have any result, other than what we’re seeing
.”

Les probably emailed him, then Long clapped his hands together and said well my job here is done, and gave himself a pat on the back.

Jason Browne was also on the internet tweeting earlier this summer, coaches don't mean shite, you just get the best player and put the ball in their hands. Which does sound like a high school coach.

Why would anyone hire Long?

I really want to meet the people who thought hiring him at Arkansas was a good idea.
Absolutely no one at Pitt missed him leaving.

It was John White that hired him?

Yes it was John "I" White who hired Long. Never liked Long because I was always suspicious of the hire because White stated several times he wanted to reduce athletics, and so it followed that would be exactly what he would hire. That is exactly what Long and the women's A.D. did.

I just remember John White being a meddler to the point that he was obstructing coaching hires and fires.

I think not long after Nutt was gone, he was told to step down and work as a professor.

Dave Gearhart was hired but he got into some trouble with school money but I'm not sure and he was gone. Both of them are from Arkansas and Steinmetz was from Ohio State. So the school was looking for an outsider after the last two duds.

Finebaum has no freaking clue what’s going on at KU, probably never watched a game. Last year was the best season we’ve had in a decade and it was Les’ first season.

The cupboard was left as bare as any in P5 history outside of Pooka. It would take anyone 4 years at minimum to become even somewhat respectable.
