It's extremely impressive for him to juggle the academic load he has and be a starting MLB in the sec, but honestly someone who can't spell their name but can cover a wr without getting roasted is more my style.

i really do understand that point of view.

i just think maybe he gets a little too much hell, he's out there trying it just doesn't always work out well and it's not like he's one of the coaches and inserting himself in the game.

i guess i just appreciate him regardless.

To be honest most of them do, the majority of them are giving it their all to win and sometimes they just aren't good enough then we get online and rip them a new one.

Way it works though for everything in life.

Ellis is a very intelligent young man and if he continues his education and becomes a doctor he will make a big difference in a lot of people's lives for the better.

He is, however, too slow to play in the system we have him slotted in. Twenty years ago he's probably an all conference candidate.

I do not blame Ellis for his lack of speed. I blame our coaching staff for putting a young man in that position when he can't do what is asked of him. As some great coaches have said... you can't coach speed.

He is a very bright young man and I think he will make Arkansas proud but he just does not have the raw physical ability to play MLB in this system.

Well if I was a 18-19 year old chubby little sorostitute, that's who I'd be going after. Future and shite.

Yeah, sounds like he's going to be a lot more successful at life than he was at football, which is just a game.

Good for him.

It's especially "just a game" when you're not winning at it.

Academic Heisman

Don't remember them there stands being filled due to 4.0 GPA's.

In all seriousness, congrats. I'll lose sleep tonight due to being pumped from this news.

As someone who was neither athletic enough to play for the Razorbacks nor dedicated enough in the classroom to carry a 3.8 GPA I congratulate the young man.

It's going to be awesome when he goes pro and kicks arse in the NFL in a system with other players doing their jobs and allowing him to actually play to his strengths.

Hell of a lot easier to get a 3.8 when you get free tutoring and have lots of people invested in you passing the class.

meh- i give validity to the other comments but i'm pretty sure a guy with his gpa working towards med school doesn't really need the tutoring help and/or people jockeying for him getting good grades.

Not going to go into my personal experience too far, but Brooks is no joke academically. Dude is smart as hell. He had a scholarship offer from Yale. Football player or not, Yale doesn't offer dummies.

Brooks is probably the exception but I often wonder how kids fail while they're on scholarship for athletics. Plenty of resources and people helping keep your shite together for you.

it's actually shameful that any D1 athlete at a P5 school doesn't have a 3.0 minimum GPA given all the tools the schools invest into them.

Can't say I wasn't jealous of the academic performance center my athlete buddies got to use.
