Yep. Let him throw three innings and possibly 50+ pitches and he is done for series.
Ramage uses those pitches up, but if Noland is on tomorrow he is more valuable than Ramage.

This has to be a joke.

I do agree with you that he might have pulled him to be available for Monday, but that sure is early in the game to say frick it, we're playing tomorrow.
Freshman have jitters, they go away after the first inning a lot

Was the 2nd inning though, and still just as bad all over the place.
We went to a couple of our better bullpen arms to keep it close for awhile, not like he threw it in right there.

Noland has two modes, unhittable or tosses batting practice. Van horn did the right thing in pulling him

This.
The kid was throwing wild already and when they started smashing them out of the park into the bleachers, it was time to re-evaluate.

He threw two pitches in the second inning. A strike and a good pitch that was probably a bit higher than he wanted that the catcher put a good swing on.
We can agree to disagree and hope that wicklander is great today.

We had all of that yesterday too. Has Dave said why he started Noland instead of Wicklander?

Noland has usually been more consistent lately. Wicklander has been pretty good too, but he can get wild and get behind in counts pretty consistently. Thankfully, for a Game 3, I'm glad we have Wick available, since OM sucks against lefties.

I just don't think a super regional is the time to shake things up when we only needed one more win to get to Omaha. And if Ole Miss sucks against lefties then that's even more reason to pitch Wick yesterday. It was a gamble on Dave's part and it didn't pay off.

Noland was also more rested and had a smaller pitch count from the Regionals.

Pulled Wick too fast IMO

Didn't Nolan start ahead of Wick in the Regional. It seems like the thing that would keep things more consistent would be to start him ahead of Wick again.

No, he didn't. You could tell Wick was too nervous and the ump was doing him no favors. Scroggins had the game of his life yesterday. It was the perfect call. Wick was just too wild, couldn't locate his fastball, along with an inconsistent ump, and nerves are not the recipe you for success for a freshman in Game 3 of a Super Regional against what is probably your biggest rival in baseball.

Yeah, this. I would have much rather DVH done what he did yesterday than do what Bianco did. Bianco left that kid in about 5 batters too long. You could tell he was slowly unraveling and our batters weren't giving him any easy at-bats. Of course, it might not have mattered when they took him out because we were still knocking the shite out of their good relievers too.

I'm fairly certain he was being sarcastic and trying to mock the thread in general.

He left every pitcher in too long. Miller should have been yanked after like 3 batters. Even most of the outs he got were on really well hit balls. I guess at a certain point you don’t have anywhere to go. The Hogs lit up their starter, their best reliever and their closer. Best weekend of hitting we’ve had in a month or more. The bats were kind of stale so it was nice to see.

For sure sarcasm. Scrog making the case we might need some veteran leadership starting in Omaha. Our bats are good enough to score with anyone

What teams in the Series have very strong lefties?

He started ahead of Campbell too, we were playing Central Connecticut.
