n't know the laws, etc... When they go in executive session, how much information does an FOI cover, what are they required to let out publicly?

I don't know how much we will get to know that soon. Where is our resident legal expert.

Not a legal expert, but I've covered lots of University/Gov't board meetings before.

What exactly happens tommorrow during the executive session will only be known by those in the room.

I've never been to a UA board meeting, but I've been to other in-state colleges meetings so they would essentially be identical.

Thursday's meeting will begin in some big open forum, then the board will say "We're going into an executive session," and leave the room.

I believe Executive sessions are only held to discuss personnel matters and hash out finances on university projects. However, any firings, hiring, extensions, or building projects must be announced and passed in the open forum in front of the public.

Essentially, all the good dirt is talked about behind closed doors, but if someone gets canned they have to say "John Doe has been relieved of his duties" or "Jane Doe has been extended as the dean of nursing"

I believe they also must give financial figures, "We're proposing a motion to build a new art building for up to $2 million" then it will be voted on publicly by the board.

Some executive sessions are quick and I've seen some last post an hour, basically they're deliberating just like a jury would on a matter in private.

I would bet though, the decisions talked about have already kind of been decided prior by talking amongst board members.

If Long gets extended it will be announced after the session. I guarantee the Democrat will have at least one reporter at that meeting, and probably most other major sorts publications in the state. Just watch those guys Twitter between 9-10 a.m. Tomorrow.

All of that Is correct, except how some of it is done. A memorandum of understanding can be agreed upon concerning contracts, extensions, layoffs, etc without it being made public. Example.

"Jeff long will get a new contract and raise in theory if... CBB wins x number of games left, if CBB gets canned and JL hires a replacement coach that meets certain specific criteria, and JL is accepting of help in this hire. If not, his contract will remain as is and this action will be considered further. "

I have see this done in city council meetings, by universities, etc.

I will be interesting. I think JL keeps his job and may even get a raise, but behind the scenes I bet he has to agree to make some drastic changes. JMO ...

This also means Long will 100% be at that meeting tomorrow. Any media may finally get to ask him a quick a question while on the way in or out of the meeting. Who knows may even get a soundbite out of it..... Gotta love publicly funded organizations....Most all of their meetings must be open to the public.

This is also why knowing a board member is the best source possible for these kinds of matters, they are ultimately the boss. More than the AD, more than the Chancellor, more than the head coach....you piss off a board member, you're really fricked. That's why the Sumlin deal earlier this year was such a big deal...no matter what his AD was telling him, as son as he saw that board of regents tweet, he knew he was canned,

Its pretty well known that a few of the BOT are not happy with Long, and more than a few are feeling the heat from the fans over CBB. Interesting times indeed...

The fact that it was pointed out yesterday that this is the worst stech of Arkansas football since the early-mid1940s (a war depleted, lost program at the time) oughta damn well get board members' attention. When there are 22,000 in attendance for the Mizzou game, I'm afraid Bert and Long may both go out with whimper...

The next hire is going to have to be a big name. He has to generate some kind of excitement for next year with the grand opening of the north endzone expansion.

If the grand opening crowd ends up looking like the crowd at Coastal it will not be a good look for Long.
