I don’t think so. Don’t think he was expected to be as good as he is. From what I remember his dad wanted him to go somewhere to get a good education first and foremost, not like they need the NBA money lol. Not sure if he has the same connection to Arkansas as his dad since he probably grew up in California but it would have been cool.

What’s the difference nowadays between vandy and arkansas? Are the professors at vandy in 2020 really that much better thank Arkansas? I mean I could understand back in 1920 but it seems nowadays some of the best universities out there have some of the wackiest professors

I love Arkansas bro... But let me be clear here. A Degree from Vandy, especially in law, engineering, etc. PAYS DIVIDENDS>

I messed up many years ago when i had the opp to go to Vandy for Law School and chose a different direction $$$ wise.

But I am blessed and fine with it ..

I will say rankings do matter in terms of the research people produce. I study math and did my undergrad at the U of A. I'm a graduate student in a higher rated department now and some of the folks here really pop out on a resume.

ETA getting opportunities to work closely with highly regarded faculty can be a game changer.

I guess I should’ve said unless you know about a specific degree your going for that vandy offers that the u of a doesn’t. I can understand if he already knows what he wants to do and vandy has a good school for it but most people who go to prestigious schools do it because “it’s __” like if you get a law degree from Harvard I could understand going there. But if all your getting is a general studies degree then all your paying for is the name on the piece of paper you’ll get after 4 years. Depending on his degree field vandy might be way better than Arkansas but if he’s just getting some generic degree it really wouldn’t matter where he went

Oh you're certainly right. Undergrad is pretty uniform across the country. Especially if you're doing an "athlete degree." There's almost certainly some kind of networking benefit out there.

Did you not watch arkansas play vandy the last 2 years?

Last year, they had Pippen on the headset talking about Arkansas/UCA and his son.

It probably opens a few more doors upon graduation but after that your experience and accomplishments will be far more important than where you attended school.

The exception is if you want to be a big shot in the academic world. But even then if you do well at a state engineering program you won’t have trouble getting into a big name program for PhD.

The ROI on vandy’s undergrad tuition is just not there compared to the UA.

Nope I don’t watch many bball games mostly just get updates afterwards or catch one here or there if it’s a big game. Baseball and football are the only sports I watch religiously

Just what is Pippen Sr's connection to the Razorbacks? They didn't recruit him either. He's a Purple Bear.

Don't think there is one other than being from the state but I remember he donated custom basketball shoes for us a few years back for a game in the NCAA Tournament or something like that.

Yeah I knew Scotty went to uca but he’s from Arkansas never hurts to go after that connection but as others have said his son wasn’t a superstar coming out of high school so it makes sense that we didn’t go after him that hard since he’s not from Arkansas himself anyways

It's not the teachers for the most part. It's the connections you make while in school.
