Blaine came back, I get it.

Didn’t see Biggers and Koch signing. Good luck to them.

All in a days work.

Blaine came back only and only because he was a draft eligible sophomore last year do to age.

Biggers and Koch being juniors weren’t coming back for a senior season and passing up on six figure bonuses.

Blaine was a draft eligible sophomore and came back for his junior year - he still had leverage..... get it?

Biggers and Koch signed because they were juniors and would lose all leverage if they came back. I don't think they need luck. In fact.... they would have needed extreme luck if they decided to come back. Instead they used their intelligence and skill to sign for a good amount.

It's all in a days work and is common practice when you understand college baseball.

How many people in our fanbase fail to realize this fact?

How many fail to realize that what happened to Shaddy (sign for 10K) is common - heck plenty of seniors sign for less.

This isn't football. Baseball fans should expect and be happy when a player is able to make great money after their junior year.

We should recruit and develop at a level to replace players on a 3 year cycle.

I'd rather players go pro and recruit for us then stick around and get injured or at best sign for a shitty amount.

Interesting that Zack Plunkett is returning for his senior season.

I wonder what they offered him. I'm not sure if he will take over at catcher- seems like that will be Opitz job to lose.

I'd be interested to see how he would do at first base.

He's kind of built like Spanberger - just slightly shorter.

Probably not much in 37th round. That was a late flyer pick for an extra catcher because organizations can ever get enough good receivers for the amount of arms they try to develop. Always super valuable no matter the upside.

Being that he sat out a redshirt transfer year already, he might be close to getting or finishing a masters.

Backup to Opitz at catcher seems likely, especially if the rumors are true we cut one of our catcher signees free from his letter.

We have many quality catchers already committed for 2019 and 2020.

Offers don’t get pulled in baseball. They are released from the letter than binds them to the school.

Academic and partial athletic scholarships are what players are on to play college baseball. 11.7 scholarships divided up to 27 players.

Steve Sullivan @sully7777
Congrats to former Bryant star and now former Hog Evan Lee . He signed with Washington Today. A $125,000 signing bonus. He will be playing for the Gulf Coast Nationals.

Also, Wade Beasley will be signing a pro contract with the Brewers

I understand. Make 200k right now vs. split 11.7 scholarships with your teammates. Of course, I'd prefer to be a Razorback but I'm not in his shoes.

Fans don’t understand the roster number crunch as well.

Arkansas typically brings in bigger signing classes for fall competition.

1/4 of a million guaranteed vs being in a scholarship pinch.

That's why it's huge when we get big time recruits to sign. We are a great program but we aren't Florida who can sell weather and women. We have to make up for it with fan support and development. We also have to sell the fact that players have the chance to make good money after their junior year. Which feeds back into not being mad about players leaving early.

I want Cole, Koch, Biggers etc. all to go make money. Make it big so we can have a Biggers bobble-head night and/or a Koch shirsey give away. Whenever Beeks started for Boston they did a little segment featuring Benintendi and Beeks. That is awesome branding.
