How is that a Petrino problem? He had no hand in recruiting or developing the defense we have now

Because he is responsible for the offense and the QB. While we can blame individual players like Green, all the turnovers lie at the feet of BP.

We can all agree that the biggest thing that held the offense back and likely lost games that should’ve been won were turnovers. See Memphis, Auburn, State, and other winnable games that were lost due to O turnovers.

Right, but that's not the point you were making. You were talking about how USF's defense were ball hawks and good at forcing turnovers to offset the penalties and create a better turnover differential. I asked how us not having that same ability was a Petrino issue.

My point, we could have made changes on D after the takeover, we really didn’t…. We just simplified the scheme. Kept it pretty bland. Hard to create turnovers with a base package and not much element of surprise.

It’s the nature of the beast Drewbie. If your defense sucks, everything on offense is magnified.

While both Arkansas and USF are highly penalized teams, it’s a totally different optic. Those penalties are more magnified on Arkansas than USF. In regards to USF and Golesh…”Man those guys get penalized a lot, but the defense produces ____.” The flip of that is…”Man, Arkansas lost a lot of close games because of penalties and turnovers.”

Whether fair or not, BP coached the majority of this season and the word of the rifts between him and Williams over BP getting the majority of the NIL money didn’t help his case.

Our defense plays to our talent level, we just don't have any and that is TW and Pittman's fault. If you can't see that go get some glasses.

I guess that's my hangup. To me it's obvious nitpicking the offense is the least of concerns when your defense is sandwiched by Air Force and UMass 10 spots away from being literally the worst defense in FBS college football.

I don’t need you to explain anything football related to me. I’ve probably been coaching it longer than you’ve been alive.
Any decent coach knows if you are low on talent you disguise what you do more… except we didn’t… played a base front all year with LBs that clearly can’t run/pass read. Watch Sorey and Dix on film and see how many time in a series they are out of position because they read it wrong.
Incredibly bad.
Secondary would have to be all world to cover with our lack of pressure…. And they clearly weren’t.

Ok I haven’t been coaching that long then ??
Still… been a while.
I know what I see. We clearly don’t have a lot of talent.
Simmons is the best LB on campus and they wouldn’t play him
Freshman/NIL I guess

Other than untimely turnovers, offense wasn't our problem. Well, except for that one game.
Petrino is still a damn good OC.

I wish they would hire dirken as DC, Hire Bobby as HC, keep our Oline coach, and bring up the NIL...

Give that 3 years and run with it.

I just can't get my hopes up for a mediocre coach in a terrible conference anymore. Chard did me in.

If we can't get a Campbell, or such as... just burn it down!

Why hire an up and comer from a G5 conference who may or may not pan out in the SEC when you can hire someone who already demonstrated an 0-7 record in SEC play? Easy choice!

Ohhh, So simplistic and juvenile...

You know damn well that BP was hired to create a vacuum of excitement within the confines of DWRRS to keep the $$$ coming because our cheap arses wouldn't do what should have been done.

We used him, much like he used Jessica Dorrell. Ohhh, He was paid, but it made us ChaCHing! for another couple of season in ticket sales while our AD ate cake and played the fiddle while it all burned down.

BP would mop the floor with most of these "up and comers" with the NIL that they are blabbing about. Anyone with half a molecule of a brain would know this, ,right? RIGHT?
