Forde writes COY candidates at this stage. Impressed with Pitboss, and gets to thinking Chad may be a problem.

Saw a stat that said if you averaged all the players on the 247 composite. It puts our team at a ranking of 25th best players. No way we should have lost half the games we did under Bielema or Morris.

The least-acclaimed Power 5 hire of the season currently looks like the best. A guy who put in 28 years as a college assistant without ever being a coordinator has found his calling (of the Hogs). The Razorbacks were on a 20-game SEC losing streak when Pittman took over, and now they’re a bad call away from being 3-1. Hard to believe this is the same program that came into 2020 on a nine-game losing streak, the last six of them by double digits.
While Pittman’s work is certainly laudable, it is all the greater an indictment of predecessor Chad Morris. When playing hard results in this dramatic of a difference, that says a lot about what was going on before the new staff arrived. (Morris’s rebound job as offensive coordinator at Auburn isn’t going very well, either. The Tigers are on pace for their most meager total offense numbers of Gus Malzahn’s tenure.)
But muh Clempson!

Klieman at K. State had a horrible first game against Arkansas State but has bounced back big time. Which shouldn't be a huge surprise, the guy won how many Nattys at North Dakota State?
All of which is a good way of saying that Pittman has done an amazing job here to be mentioned in that group. Hell, considering what he was handed when he took over, you could make a very strong argument he's done the best job of any Head Coach at the FBS level.

Anyone who is smart could see all he did was teach them how to recruit.

They went from 36 and 27 to 10th ranked class in Chad's first year. He can recruit. He is useless otherwise.

The bulk of the recruiting comes from the position coaches. He has an eye for talent but he is bad at teaching the fundamentals.
Position coaches have to be good at both if they want to be a coordinator in the future. He shouldn't have been offered that opportunity as a OC at Clemson.
He was horrible as a head coach, bad as an OC now at Auburn and would be average to bad as a position coach. But his recruiting ability still wouldn't be good enough to a position coach in college period.
He needs to go back to Texas high school where he belongs.
