That 2019 class is shaping up to be a dud.

He recruited well by rankings... not sure about actual performance overall...

Didn't that class have Jalen Catalon, KJ Jefferson, and Treylon Burks?

Yep but this team needed more help on the defensive side especially defensive linemen and linebackers.

We too often look good in rankings and bad in retrospect when identifying contributors overall

As evidenced by the fact that we had to go to the portal for the entirety of our defensive line and our linebacker corps is littered with former walk-ons.

He may work out here and he may not, but it cannot be overstated just how bad of a shitshow Pittman walked into.

And Traylor brought in Beaux Limmer from Tyler. Well, Kurt did really, his brother.

I hope that he does but at the very least Pittman stopped the bleeding. When you find yourself in a hole the first thing to do is stop digging.

Bert and Chad burned the program to the ground and then salted the very earth.

And Allen has the #3 recruit in the nation for next year
David Hicks Jr. Dad played at El Dorado and was reportedly a finalist for the EHS job when they hired Jones. El Do folks are still not real happy about that. Could have hired a hometown boy and had a top recruit all in one deal. Now he's in Texas where he's probably being told daily how bad Arkansas is.

Chad will go to his grave blaming Arkansas for his stay here. My sorry self could have coached us to more wins than he did, even if I insisted we go back to the wishbone.

He runs a shittier version of the gus Malazan offense.

Gus taught his offense to him and he "improved" it by adding passing elements from other offenses.

Then, like Gus, proclaimed himself an offensive guru and has ran the same offense for 20+ years with no tweaks or changes to adapt to defenses designed to stop it.

Briles offense predates the Gus offense and has some similar elements. This is likely where Gus came up with the majority of his ideas and the hunh. Ancient offenses veer vs single wing ran really fast.

Everyone is use to tempo now so it isn't as hard to prepare for like it was 20 years ago. Briles offense has evolved adding elements of the run and shoot and air raid. The Gus offense is the same as it was in 2006.

The reason why the Gus offense was so great was not because it was up tempo, it was because he was the first coach that took advantage of the fact that the rules of the game had not been updated to account for up tempo offensives.

Gus was the master of playing the little bitch game. His entire offense was designed around subbing players as fast as possible and not letting the defensive adjust and sub. His entire offensive is designed around exhausting the defensive to a point where they can barely run anymore which is why early on it seemed like everybody was wide open etc.

He went to great lengths to design plays where receivers would end on his side line so they could easily walk off an another receiver walk on. Defensives weren't really playing against 11 players, they were playing against the entire sideline too and they never got the opportunity to sub.

The rule that stopped all this childish bullshite is when they forced the offensive to stop whenever they subbed allowing the defensive time to sub and adjust. Every since then the Gus offensive has not produced like it did in the past.

It's a bitch offense ran by bitch coaches. Chad was too late to really take advantage of it given the rule change. Gus looked like a God in highschool and took it to Auburn. Heck he looked like a God here for a few possessions under Nutt. I really don't think Nutt wanted to play ball like that, but hey Gus didn't care.
