Defense was at fault for the Bama and State games.

Giving up 49 points to Bama that didn't have Young for most of the game.

40 to state that refused to put pressure on the QB and allowed the secondary to be picked apart.

You didn’t really think 26 points vs. Alabama, even without Young, or 17 vs. State was ever going to be enough to win those games, did you? What kind of defense would it have taken to win those games with that kind of offensive output, and when is the last time you think we had a defense like that?

you don't think 26 pts and 17 pts would be all that we would score if the Defense got off the field with stops, turnovers, etc do you?

Defense breeds offense. If our Defense were middle of the SEC... we would have beaten TAMU for sure, and most likely one more we lost imho.

I honestly believe this. Our D has been atrocious... Is it injuries, scheme, coaching, or a combination of the three?

Maybe, but then there’s the fact that whether we stop them or they score, we then get the ball.

Our defense gave up fewer points to aTm than Alabama’s defense. They aren’t good, no argument there, but they gave up 16 points. That’s the last game that should be blamed on the defense.

It is, and the answer is all three. But that doesn’t change the fact that our offense has been equally atrocious. It’s not like a team gets to score and keep the ball.

I've supported our coaches all along, but we're just getting out-coached this year. Both sides of the ball.

You can nitpick here and there, but this team has more potential than it has shown.

Andrew Hutchinson
@NWAHutch
Kendal Briles took over an offense that ranked 117th & 105th the two yrs before his arrival. It improved to 80th in Year 1 (w/ no spring & against an all-SEC schedule), then to 38th in Year 2 & is now 13th thru 5 games in Year 3.

And this is…bad?

(These are PFF rankings, btw)

so get rid of Briles who has the 24th rated offense in the nation, and bring in Lunney who has the 67th rated offense

great plan

You obviously paid attention to nothing I’ve ever wrote. I said get rid of Odom and everyone blames Briles.

I’ve said make Odom recruit, If you guys believe in his schemes. YOU say no one knows what they are talking about on recruits except for Odom and other coaches.

So I said Briles will most likely be gone even though he has statistically one of the top offenses in the nation and we will bring in some guy with Arkansas ties and everyone can talk about his love for the helmet.

I have my frustrations with Briles but Odom is the one who needs to go. This defense is historically bad.

If this team had a good defense then they might be unbeaten right now.

Defense, especially our secondary is the biggest issue. Not sure there is a fix as we have 2 walking and a third string player starting back there.

Special teams is atrocious as usual. Whoever decided that Fletcher>Bauer needs to go. Wildly inconsistent with an occasional 60 yarder isn’t better than consistent 42 yard punts.

Offensively…self inflicted wounds and injuries are the issue. I doubt Briles told KJ to go play Superman on the play that’s now cost us 3 games.

Probably still get beat by Bama.
Maybe not, with the 2nd string QB, but they just out dude us every year.

I believe that’s Pittman closest friend, Scott Fountain.

This off season looks to be the hardest of Pittmans career. If he doesn’t make the tough decisions he won’t be here much longer.

He can remain loyal to his frieds (HDN comes to mind) and get ran off in year 4, or make the tough calls all big time coaches have to make, and possibly be here another 4-5

truly looking forward to day Briles leaves for another position and we bring the incomprehensible all SEC OC Jim Chaney home once more.

I think he was told no on that the first time. Probably would be the second time too.

I could see him getting someone like Matt Luke or another former OL coach and making him an OC. Or just someone who loves that helmet.

I don’t think Briles stays much longer, regardless of what happens. Wish he would have recruited a QB that actually makes his scheme work. Of course if he had, the melt would have been epic when KJ transferred out. Briles is probably the best we’ve had, at least since Enos. Wish he could have found the right guy and limited the derp, it would have approached the Petrino years.

The most Arkansas hire to make would fit right here, BLJ

We know Barry loves the helmet
