He's interetested and they've contacted him per reports.

Needless to say their fans aren't happy at all.

quote:

@247Sports: Paul Finebaum is adamantly against the idea of Michigan State pursuing Bret Bielema as the Spartans' next head coach:

"I mean, there are plenty of names out there better than Bret Bielema. I mean, are you serious?"

quote:

@SpartanSzn: A couple days ago we thought we were getting Luke Fickell

We’re actually about to come away with fricking Bret Bielema man

quote:

@warriorplyr21: In response to what you were talking about this AM @colin_dunlap, there isn’t any MSU fan I know who wants Bret Bielema. That would be an atrocious hire.

quote:

@DETGoBlue: Brady Hoke vs Bret Bielema first one to eat 100 hot dogs gets the MSU job

I wouldn't poo poo on this idea entirely. With the right staff, he could wreck shop in the big.

Michigan isn't anything to be scared of, ohio state without Mayer isn't a juggernaut either. If he has his personal issues under control, he could be fairly successful.

Folks, I am not a Bert apologist at all but he was heads and tails above Chard. Well, and waist and butt as well

Would make a lot of sense if he could bring Enos back as his OC considering Enos is a MSU alum. Bert won the Big 10 multiple times. At this time of year there is slim pickings.

The B1G was the second best conference last year, if you look at the quality of all the teams. Harbaugh is underachieving at Michigan, but they typically win 10 a year with him. Bert couldn't beat 8–5 Texas A&M or 8–5 Auburn year-in and year-out. Ohio State just went to the playoffs, and has been a machine for their past three head coaches. Minnesota is building something with PJ Fleck, just completing their own 10-win season. Penn State is good for 10+ a year. Wisconsin is always good, and Iowa is inconsistent, but typically competent.

The B1G has invested heavily in upgrading their coaches last decade. Michigan State was one of those teams. They can't afford to roll the dice with Bert.

Bert is fine if he has someone above him to keep him in check, Alvarez, Belicheck. He probably would have done fine here if he’d work for Broyles instead of mr integrity.

It came out at the beginning of the football season he didn't want to coach in college because he doesn't want to recruit.

Arkansas cuts him off and today: I would be very interested in this position. I need iron clad buy out to insure turn around time though.

He could work there. He flamed out here but was successful in the mid west.

I like to think that Bert was getting serious consideration until someone in the Michigan State office checked SEC Rant to see what the fans here thought of him and came across the Bert got his butt ate thread.

Any coach they hired was going to have to leave at an awkward time. It's Dantonio's fault for retiring at such a strange time.

I'm just saying John L Smith got shite when he came here. We got shite from national media. They could have hired an out of work coach for 1 year and then extended if good.

That one year could really set them back. Their recruiting already sucks as it is. It would just get even worse. We saw firsthand how that worked out for us. There is no point to that.

At least, they showed they are serious and went and got the man they wanted.
