Bret Bielema's buyout numbers are $15.4 million from 2015-17, then $11.7 in 2018, $7.9 in 2019 and $4 million in 2020.

Don't like the contract...

Our buyout is extremely high, his.. not so much.

15, 4 million
16, 3 million
17 2 million
18 1 million

He wants an NFL / Optional gig if available or this would be higher imho! I think we needed to raise this as well!

I'm over the moon that we got this done and locked him down, but this is a little disconcerting.

I'm sure Long has clauses in the contract that will allow him to be fired with out paying a penny or only paying a fraction of the actual buyout for certain situations.

Serious question, why do y'all think he could never win a big game at Wisconsin?

Each loss could be contributed to different reasons I'm sure.

Trying to make a blanket assumption on what lost all those games would be a fools game. Each loss is different.

He did his best when they were down, just couldn't find a way to win the bowls. I always figured he just a the worst luck ever.

My rep here is sterling, don't act like I'm trolling because you know I'm not.

He did, but I'm going to assume you mean in B1G play against OSU/Michigan which I would say the talent disparity between those two and the rest of the league is far greater than what can be found in the majority of the SEC. Ohio St, anyway, was well coached during his entire tenure, Michigan during the Carr years, Rich Rod was an oil/vinegar situation for the program, Hoke truly regressed every season.

If you mean the bowl games, I guess you would need to research on a case by case basis, often you will find a team that is disappointed to be in that bowl or just happy for the free trip, while they may be playing a team who views it as the biggest game in their history at that time.

During his time at Arkansas, the teams have always looked well prepared, the talent gap was largely noticeable his first season, not so much his second, Chaney made questionable decisions that cost the team a few games this past season, you can blame that on Bert, but most Arkansas fans blamed the HC for not giving full control to OCs in the past, so that is a catch 22.

The team looked focused and well prepared for the bowl game, not happy to be there, not view it as a big game (it wasn't it was just Texas), from the moment they got off the bus until the trophy was handed out all business by the players.

We haven't had a HC able to instill that discipline and focus in a long while. My biggest complaint about Petrino, while he was here, was he and his players talking about NCs in the media while he is telling them they would never beat Bama in the week leading to the game, not as a motivation, but half assed prep and effort because its not possible to beat Bama.

Bert has his team believing they can beat anyone, but more importantly if they do what they are told they will be prepared and able to beat anyone.

He is truly good at managing people, he is a "player's coach" who is able to be so without trying to be their best friend, that is rare outside of the NFL for the most part.

Guess you're just uninformed. He was 2-0 in Big 10 championship games, yet you said he "never won a big game."

I agree with your whole post. Bert will make Arky competitive in the SEC.

Stonehog, this isn't the rant.

People define "big games" differently.

For a large % of our fan base over 50 the LSU, Ole Miss and Texas Bowl would have all been "big games" this season since all three were against "rivals" from our past for these people.

Bert was 3-0.

So you can see why the Jerriah Joneses of our fan base would be ecstatic over the season and why.

Yeah but it's perspective. 17-0 was a huge game and my favorite game of the year wasn't even A&M's....it was that beat down of the whorns
