He will get a second year no matter what, Posey said when they hired him he knew it was a "retool" season and beyond 1 year. They were projected to be .500 preseason. The only way I could see it being 1 and done is if drama takes over in the clubhouse/on-field antics etc.

I always assumed he wouldn't be available even if DVH stepping down didn't happen for another 2-3 years. I figured he'd work out in the majors. At this rate I'd be shocked if Vitello lasted that long, but like I said before it's still really early. They could get hot, but there's no way they're going to tolerate looking up at Colorado for longer than 2 years.

In other news, Dietz still being the only dependable arm we've got and the offense actually producing.

You would have to get rid of HY first, All the secondary sports have had assistants promoted to be HC.

He tried to do this in Football. He basically did with the Pittman hire.

So it is which assistant would you lose if the other guy was named HC, that would be the guy with the leverage in Hunter's mind.

The optimistic delusional part of me hopes that Arkansas big wigs are communicating with both DVH and Vitello to time DVHs retirement with Vitellos return to Arkansas

They can, but HY will decide.

His list has Bobby, Nate, and a Matt.

No Tonys.

If he and Stewart can continue, we may have something brewing.

We really need to find a way to host so we don't have to burn Dietz game 1 of a regional. But if we were to get a stronger 4 seed may have to anyways can't trust anyone else but to win a regional I think Dietz has to go in game 2 winners bracket.

Agreed. To have any chance at all in a regional, Dietz is gonna have to go at least 7.

It looks like his swing issues have been addressed, and he’s seeing the ball better and drawing more walks. He was hitting a shitload of ground balls until the last few weeks. Everything was a chopper to 3rd or short. Now he’s hitting more to opposite field and getting under the ball more.

If he can get going and be the player we thought he was going to be coming into the season, watch out.

When he barrels one up, it’s gone. He hit one that was 115 off the bat yesterday.

He's hitting at a higher clip than Helfrick now. Something I never thought I'd say this year.

List of good Arkansas pitchers on the current staff:

Hunter Dietz

That's it. That's the list.

I really don’t like blowing McGuire in relief in a 7-0 game where we’re not pissing a drop at the plate.

I’d have rather saved him for Game 3 and had him, Gaeckle and McElvain combo in a bullpen game.

DVH, the eternal optimist on Nate Thompson

Seems like Brissey or Eaves would've been a better choice.
