... With a super majority no less.
The gist:
The state assembly passed a bill this week that would wipe out all owed ticky tack Wu Flu compliance fines that were issued last year as part of Asa's sweeping "emergency powers" rules.
The fines only totalled about $40,000, but the issue is that they disproportionately hit small businesses, which did not have the resources or manpower to follow strict compliance and were also in a money crunch anyway with falling business revenues.
So, the hugely advantaged Republicans (in terms of assembly numbers) easily pass a bill to zero out all of these fines and refund the monies back to the small business owners.
But swamp snake Asa, the guy who claims to support small business, doesn't want that, so he vetoes the bill.
No problem, though, because in Arkansas, only a simple majority in the House and Senate is needed to overrule a gubernatorial veto.
So, upon revote, the Senate passes the override, while the super-supermajority House FAILS to even get 51% of the vote. Yes, the same people that initially voted for the bill, then elect not to pass the very same bill after a veto from Asa.
If you're wondering, The house Republicans have a 56 vote advantage and the Senate Rs outnumber Ds 27-8.
How did this happen?
The Rs lost 28 votes in the override.
12 didn't even vote for the overrule and another 9 voted "present" while 7 more flipped to side with the Ds. The overrule was lost in the House 39-40.
Here is a breakdown of who voted for and against the overrule.
Remember fellow Arkansans, when it comes to money, it does not matter what party any candidate is associated with..they will screw you. Any of these reps and senators that claim to care about small business have also shown you all you need to know.

At some point people in this country will hopefully realize it isn't democrats vs Republicans, its Americans against both.

If Jack Ruby was a coach:
We're taking it one game at a time
We only worry about the guys that are here
We can't worry about the other team
You play to win the game

Ahh, the Belichick approach, seems to work OK.
Your obsession with Jack Rubenstein is also very, very strange. Is that you Asa??

Conservatism is just progressivism driving the speed limit.
Asa and neocons are just as big government as the left.

What are the rules besides everyone wearing a mask? I'm admittedly not very up-to-date on all this stuff.

We have retards as politicians in this state. The difference in other larger states is that they are corrupt to the core in the West Coast or the Northeast. Our politicians are too stupid to be corrupt but are full blown morons and that makes it even worse.
They are never forwarded thinking and always wait to follow and not lead by example.

Amazing how much more intelligent our governor is than our collective general assembly.
We are fortunate to have such a dear leader.

That isn't saying much. The general assembly is full of dumb and dumbers.

I know a couple of the Republican No votes. Will be giving them shite for this next time I see them. They are the uppity elitist types so it doesn't really surprise me though.

Asa is basically a Democrat now. With that being said, a lot of the members of the house are not very smart.

They are corrupt but not big city or federal level corruption. Anything on that level of corruption is beyond comprehension for them. They are too simple minded for that.

I think it's total indimidation and callowness as well.
I've seen it many times in small county and city government settings. Conservatives come in staunchly opposed or supporting some issues, then after just one or two pushes or a random complaint, they fold like a $3 lawn chair.
Most of the state house comes from these small local govt bodies, so they don't change very much in their approach.
I know one of the Reps who was a "did not vote" on the overrule. He's a former mayor and just a rich guy who never had to work, so he took the mayor job that didn't even pay a full time salary. Now, he's in the state house doing shite like this.

In the 91st General Assembly
-Three former legislators plead guilty to fraud and corruption
-Another plead guilty to fraud and money laundering
-Another resigned after being indicted on 8 counts of fraud
5 of 135 (4%) busted for fraud in one year. That is far above the typical rate for general population. Think how many cases didn't have enough evidence, etc
