The rivalry with Texas is good for the program. You can't tell me the environment this weekend isn't going to appeal to some recruits.

Texas has underperformed for years and now will have to play a much tougher schedule. Their prestige will take a hit in the coming years.

A&M is the biggest loser from the move. UTwo, OU, LSU, and Arkansas now get elevated from a recruiting perspective. They've benefited greatly from being the only Texas school in the SEC. All that ends and there's no reason to expect them to be more than middling program going forward. Best thing for us is for the top recruits in TX to get divided up evenly, with us getting a chunk of them.

From a fan perspective we're looking at possibly playing UTwo, A&M, and OU annually, maybe LSU?W e don't have much history with OU but they're a top tier program and will be the closest geographically.
Let's face it, we're a big game fanbase. There are games that will be sell outs consistently.

It won't be an easy schedule but it's not going to be any worse than playing Bama/Auburn/UGA/UF. Then in basketball/baseball we should be either at or above the level of all those programs for the foreseeable future.

I agree for some of the reasons you mentioned. But also, competing with OSU, TCU (when they are good), Baylor, etc for recruits should be much easier now given how big the gap will be between the SEC vs whatever their conference ends up looking like.

This may happen but isnt a certainty....if the Big12 continues to survive and scrape by then teams like OSU/TCU/Baylor may elevate to the top of the Big12 with the vacancies left by OU/Texas. These schools will now have an easier path to the playoff with OU/UT leaving if the Big12 stays Power 5.

It will be interesting to watch.

It would be a very weak power 5. It would probably hurt the playoff chances as the quality of opponents is pitiful.

The TV contract that the Big12 is going to negotiate is going to be a fraction of the SEC and even a fraction of the current Big12 deal. Without OU and TX, the remaining Big12 schools are the equivalent of the AAC in terms of viewership.

Power 5 becomes the Power 4.
