Overall it was a great game if you like pitching duels. It’s unfortunate that a hit batter, crazy play at 2nd, and sac fly is what won the game for FSU. Hopefully the baseball gods take our sacrificial game into consideration and help us get another shot at FSU on Friday.

Definitely was. Fun to watch and no reason we couldn't beat them 2 of the 3, assuming we can get through tech first

Why would we not have Campbell?

Weird comment.

Get through Tech, and then the loser from Monday's winner's bracket game, then beat the other winner's bracket team twice. We have to win 4 games in a row now.

I'm not sure how far back the first baseman could have been playing as the infield was pulled in. Could we have tried a squeeze there? Sure, but if it didn't work everyone would be bitching about calling for a squeeze. The fact is that Martin didn't do his job. All he had to do was make contact and you're probably scoring a run. That's what FSU did when they had the same chance.

It's frustrating as hell and I've watched many Cubs (Sosa, Soriano, etc) do the same shite... Shorten your swing, swallow your pride and do whatever you have to do to get the run in.

We can do it... We're still the best team on our side of the bracket.

We have to hit the ball though.

He wouldn't pitch until Friday, so we'd need to win three elimination games without him first. Noland starts, Wick starts, who is that third starter? I honestly don't know.

If we make it through tech and whoever loses between Michigan and FSU we get to the winner of Michigan FSU who I think we can outscore 1 game then get back to Campbell. At least that’s what I hope

Noland Monday

Wick next game

Campbell Friday

Noland Saturday

We'd be hurting for the finals

You're right, I had an extra game in there. So we just need to win two more games without Campbell. I think that's doable.

Scroggins could get us 4-5 innings from a start if needed

Scroggins. He was a weekend starter before arm soreness and that is when Wicklander filled the role.

If Noland and Wicklander are on...Our next four starters are Noland, Wick, Scroggins, Campbell. If some how we were to win those, hopefully there is a comfortable lead in Campbell’s game that he can be pulled at 55-60 pitches.

I’d actually probably throw Campbell on Friday with around a 60 pitch count limit and then bring him back for Tuesday. Throw Scroggins on Saturday.

Again, there's absolutely no reason to start anyone other than our top 3 until the championship series

Also at this point you don't do anything in preparation for "tomorrow"... You take it one game at a time

I agree with Hawgeye the goal is to win the national championship if giving yourself a slightly less chance of winning today means greater odds of winning tomorrow you go that route

at this point though who cares if you have a higher chance of winning tomorrow. you gotta focus on the coin flip today not a potential coin flip tomorrow

Lol, no you don't... You make 100% sure that you have today won before you worry about tomorrow.

If you think starting one guy would give you an 80% chance of winning today’s game and starting the other guy would give you a 60% chance but starting the first guy tomorrow gives you a 60% chance in that game but starting the second guy only gives you a 40% chance you take the risk of starting the no.2 guy the first game in my opinion because unless you win both games nothing really matters

so instead of taking a probably win and 50% improvement in odds you would go where you probably dont win today and take a 33.33% reduction in chance to win?

No you still are favored with the 2nd guy just not by as much. If the 2nd option is much worse then I say yes start the no.1 guy pray and we will figure out the rest later but by next Friday if we’re still playing I say give scroggins a short leash but hopefully by then Michigan or FSU will be on one of their lesser pitchers and we can rely on our bats while saving Campbell
