quote:

The in-state signal caller went as far as pleading his own case to Arkansas live on air.

“The money’s not first for me … I want the right place. I don’t know if Arkansas is confused and they think I’m going to break the bank,” Archer said. “Call me crazy, but if you put me in a room with Taylen Green and those guys last year I could compete.”

Archer talked about the awkwardness of having teachers, classmates, teammates and friends asking him about Arkansas “every day,” especially with many of them going to the UA themselves.

“Where am I at? Can I go, please?” Archer wondered out loud. “That’s how I did feel. My feelings have changed obviously just because I’ve been treated so badly. It sucks.”

I 100% think that Silverfield should offer Archer, there is no doubt about that in my mind. Hell, he has put up insane numbers, is an Arkansas kid that wants to be here, and we only have 1 QB on the team right now.
But can someone explain to me how Archer has been 'treated so badly'?

That’s kind of my deal… previous staff maybe… doubt it’s been by the new staff. I’m guessing Silverfield has at least 2 QBs he’s locked on in the portal but I would offer him as a peace offering if nothing else. Would pacify the instate folks that aren’t sold on him yet.

80 percent of Archer HS stats come from screen passes, he’s not some savior that people keep making him out to be

Yeah, I'm not that high on Archer. If he wants to come here on a scholarship and minimal NIL to prove himself I'm cool with that. If the coaches feel like they have better targets they should pursue those first. I'm not a master QB evaluator, but I can read between the lines when 2 staffs just don't seem interested in a guy that they should be able to get.

Same boat I’m in. Measurables just aren’t there. Would love for him to be a hog but honestly would be surprised if he ever gets meaningful snaps.

There is 1 QB on the roster, he says he would be a cheap option if given the opportunity.

They need a third string QB on the roster, but some people act like he is a top instate recruit instead of a fringe top 20 recruit in the state that he is.

So you get good will by offering and signing him, but you have double bad will when he doesn't move up from the bottom of the depth chart and transfers out to UCA in a couple years for playing time.

Everyone loves a lose lose situation.

It’s nice seeing Arkansas getting a visit from several recent portal players

I was going to make a list of targets/visits but there’s ALOT and I don’t have time right now

I’ll do a quick rundown:

- Memphis RB Sutton Smith will be visiting here today for a visit, expect that to materialize quickly

- Houston LB Corey Platt Jr will be visiting in the next day or two

- 3 year starting CB Gentry Williams from OU is a top priority

- Florida DL Machai Boireau will be visiting in the next few days

- OSU CB Eric Fletcher will be on campus shortly

- Auburn DE Jamonta Waller is visiting, another that could materialize quickly

- Penn WR Jared Richardson will be visiting Monday, had 80 catches for almost 1200 yards this year

That’s just off top of my head I’ll add more later when I get time
