What's the deal with this email from Yurachek?
Posted on 11/9/23 at 9:44 pm to Arkapigdiesel
Here’s what he sent:
quote:
Dear Razorback Nation:
As I approach the completion of my sixth year as your Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics, I want to thank you for your loyal support of our program. Whether it is our league best 33 SEC Championships in that span or our continued record-setting success in the classroom, we have done remarkable things by banding together as ONE Razorback!
On this occasion, I am asking for your assistance in helping us ensure future generations of student-athletes also have the opportunity to develop into Champions and Razorback for Life.
College athletics is in a period of transformative change. The current patchwork of state laws related to name, image and likeness and other issues critical to college sports is untenable and has the potential to fundamentally transform college sports to the detriment of many of our sports programs and student-athletes.
For many of the issues, only Congress can provide lasting solutions by passing federal law. We have been encouraged by the growing bipartisan interest in Congress to address the future of college athletics. There is promising momentum for federal legislation to provide national uniform solutions.
We have joined institutions from across two dozen conferences to form the Coalition for the Future of College Athletics (C4FCA), aimed at ensuring college sports is governed fairly and consistently through forward-looking federal legislation.
We need your help by sending a message to Congress that this issue is important to you.
You can help by clicking here to urge Congress to act on federal legislation. You can compel your friends to do the same. You can also further elevate the coalition by following and engaging on social media.
To learn more about why the future of college sports must be addressed now, go to www.C4FCA.com .
Thank you for your continued support of our program and most importantly your investment in the lives of Razorback student-athletes!
Hunter Yurachek
Vice Chancellor
Director of Athletics

I could understand that email if we were a school like Vandy or Mississippi St who suck at the bottom of the barrel on most all sports most years but this is the University of Arkansas. Quit your crying and play the game like every other top tier university does.

I encourage everyone to write the states senators and Congress representatives.
Then do it again.
All except one auto reply generic thanks for you opinion except the worthless senator frick in NWA that responds with we received your email a month later.
Hunter could set up that auto send letter like other organizations such as SEMA does for this, but again that takes effort.
Now shut up and give me your money.

Thanks for muss Hunter but it maybe time to move on. If the hill he’s going to die in is not going along with NIL he’s going to take Razorback athletics down with him.

Pretty bad timing after losing the top recruit in the state

Dear Mr. Yurachek,
As a lifelong fan that lives out of state, SEC fans in general could give two shits about your 33 Championships.
Your football team sucks arse again and that's what really matters in SEC country.
Fix the fricking problem or gtfo.

I hope our coaches know what they are doing with the recruiting visitors this weekend but I figure they don't have a damn clue.

Not really any visitors outside of a JUCO OL and some instate guys.
quote:
We're still a few weeks away from peak portal madness, but Arkansas is getting an early start by hosting a Big Ten offensive lineman on an official visit for Saturday's game against Auburn in Fayetteville. Michigan State's Keyshawn Blackstock, who was allowed to enter the portal in a 30-day window following MSU's dismissal of head coach Mel Tucker, is expected to arrive in Fayetteville later today and wrap up a 48-hour official visit with the Hogs on Sunday.
Blackstock, 6-5, 315, was the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the junior college ranks for 2023 after a successful two-year run at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. He committed to the Spartans last December and enrolled in June only to enter the portal on October 24. The Covington (Ga.) Newton native quickly collected new scholarship offers from several programs, including NC State, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, Penn State and others.
Arkansas offensive line coach Cody Kennedy came calling with an offer on October 28, and Blackstock has since added Colorado, Louisville, Maryland and Baylor to the mix. Blackstock has already made official visits at NC State and Ole Miss since entering the portal.
Blackstock, who is set to land in NWA at 4:36 p.m., will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next destination and said he is being recruited to play offensive tackle by every school that has offered so far. Penn State and Louisville are likely destinations for official visits, as well.
In addition to the transfer official visitor, Sam Pittman and the Hogs will host several other unofficial prospects for Saturday's 3 p.m. kickoff against Hugh Freeze and the Tigers. While there aren't a ton of new-name headliners expected to be in attendance, there are two instate prospects that would definitely be considered notable if they decide to make the trip. The Natural State's top prospect, Top100 wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield of Pine Bluff, told us earlier in the week that he's "supposed to be" on campus despite last weekend's de-commitment from the Hogs.
Another in-state target of note is Valley View linebacker Brian Huff, who we're also hearing is a possible visitor for Saturday's game even though he's still committed to Missouri. As reported earlier, the Razorbacks are expected to be making a late push on the east Arkansas product.
Other notable expected visitors include 2024 linebacker commitment Wyatt Simmons of Searcy (Ark.) Harding Academy, 2024 cornerback commitment Jaden Allen of Aledo (Texas), 2024 Bentonville (Ark.) wide receiver commitment CJ Brown, 2025 quarterback/athlete Quentin Murphy of Little Rock (Ark.) Joe T. Robinson, and others.

You think they’re giving up on recruiting because they think they’re gone after this season?

I was talking about them bringing in the Mizzou commits/leans all while hoping Crutchfield and Collins show.
HY complains about NIL money but bringing in recruits committed to other schools on ARK's dime is fine but not paying what it takes to get the best talent we can.

I think so too, however I think there may be more to happen.
Seems to believe something has to be done period and that HY along with these coaches , Saban, Kiffin, are the ones in paving the way forward for it.
Saban met with them and is willing to again following the season. FWIW! I wouldn't want to be the AD being so vocal myself...
