Hoover (Ala.) safety Jeremy Cook has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks following his unofficial visit at Saturday’s Hogwild Hangout recruiting event in Fayetteville. The 6-3, 195-pound athlete went public with his decision on Monday, becoming the Hogs’ 17th verbal commitment for the Class of 2024.

Cook chose the Razorbacks over offers from Cincinnati, Southern Miss, Alcorn State and South Alabama. Arkansas was the first program to offer Cook after assistant head coach Scott Fountain discovered him during the spring evaluation period. Defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson also played a role in getting Cook to commit to the Hogs.

Cook is the second safety to join the Razorbacks’ 2024 class, joining four-star athlete Julius Pope of Batesville (Miss.) South Panola. His commitment also gives the Razorbacks four from the state of Alabama for the Class of 2024. Cook, who played mostly wide receiver prior to his senior season, has yet to receive a rating from 247Sports.

In addition to Cook, the Razorbacks have seven other defensive commitments in four-star defensive lineman Charleston Collins of Little Rock (Ark.) Mills, four-star defensive lineman Kavion Henderson of Leeds (Ala.), four-star athlete Julius Pope of Batesville (Miss.) South Panola, four-star cornerback Selman Bridges of Temple (Texas) Lake Belton, three-star cornerback Jaden Allen of Aledo (Texas), three-star athlete Ahkhari Johnson of Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant Grove, and three-star defensive back Tevis Metcalf of Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville.

Arkansas also has nine commitments on the offensive side of the ball in four-star quarterback KJ Jackson of Montgomery (Ala.) St. James, four-star running back Braylen Russell of Benton (Ark.), three-star athlete/running back Jadan Baugh of Decatur (Ga.) Columbia, four-star wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield of Pine Bluff (Ark.), four-star receiver Ashton Bethel-Roman of Missouri City (Texas) Ridge Point, three-star wide receiver CJ Brown of Bentonville (Ark.), four-star athlete Noreel White of Ocean Springs (Miss.) St. Martin, three-star offensive lineman Kobe Branham of Fort Smith (Ark.) Southside, and three-star offensive lineman Zuri Madison of Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass.

Arkansas deepened its recruiting class on Monday with the commitment of Hoover, Alabama, safety Jeremy “JuJu” Cook.

Cook spent time on Arkansas’ campus during the Hogwild Hangout on Saturday and decided to go public with his decision on Twitter afterward on Monday.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound athlete is projected to play safety for the Hogs, but for Hoover High School he plays multiple positions on both offense and defense.

While he is currently unranked by Rivals, Cook’s highlight film shows he could be a diamond in the rough for the Razorbacks.

Cook has a nose for the ball and is not afraid of contact. He flies to the ball carrier and is a solid tackler. His frame shows he has the ability to put on more solid weight and be a disruptor in both pass coverage and run defense.

Cook chose Arkansas over offers from Cincinnati, Southern Miss and others. The Hogs extended an offer to him on May 10, his first Division I offer. He said he chose Arkansas because of the love he felt from the program.

"I feel like Arkansas has everything I liked,” Cook said. “They are like the standard for me. They set the standard for me. It was just the best fit for me. They love me as a person and a player. They showed me a lot of love."

Arkansas has started to develop a strong pipeline into the state of Alabama, and Cook’s commitment only widens that reach. Cook said the other recruits in the class of 2024 were pushing him to call the Hogs.

“They really tried to get me to Arkansas,” Cook said. “They are a brotherhood already."

Cook is the fourth recruit from the state to commit to the Razorbacks in the class of 2024, joining four-star defensive end Kavion Henderson, four-star quarterback KJ Jackson and three-star defensive back Tevis Metcalf.

With Cook’s commitment, Arkansas now sits at 18 total in the class of 2024. He is the seventh defensive back commitment and the second safety in the class, joining four-star JuJu Pope.
