Ashdown (Ark.) four-star tight end Shamar Easter has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Easter, 6-5, 225, went public with his decision on Friday, becoming the Hogs’ first verbal pledge for the Class of 2023.
Easter chose the home state Razorbacks over an impressive offer list that included Auburn, Florida State, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. He also received heavy interest from Clemson after visiting the Tigers earlier this offseason.
Easter informed Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman of his decision during a Zoom call on Friday. The tight end revealed a t-shirt he had made with Pittman's catch phrase "Yes Sirrr" printed on top of a Razorback logo.
Easter’s decision comes less than two weeks after his second unofficial visit at Arkansas this summer. The four-star target made the trip in late June, then made a quick turnaround visit for the Razorbacks’ end-of-summer cookout on July 31.
The Ashdown product was recruited by first-year tight ends coach Dowell Loggains, who received high praise from Easter following his most recent trip to the Hill.
"I'm really liking the coaches," Easter said. "The coaching staff is great. That's the main part about it, it feels like home. So, that makes it even better. That's about it. I mean, but everything else falls in place. One, the coaches, and everything feels good for you."
"Coach Loggains, great guy," Easter said. "I mean, all the things he has under his belt, he can teach me a lot. So, I need to lock in, stay focused and do what I keep doing, and hopefully I make it to where I want to be."
According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, Easter is the No. 110 player in the country, the No. 7 tight end in the nation, and the No. 1 prospect in Arkansas for next year’s recruiting class. 247Sports gives him a similar ranking at No. 103 in the nation, No. 9 among all tight ends, and No. 1 in the Natural State.
While it's still extremely early for the 2023 cycle, Easter's commitment gives Arkansas a starting point of No. 10 in the nation and No. 5 in the SEC.
In Fayetteville, he will follow in the footsteps of another pair from Ashdown who have made names for themselves as Razorbacks in cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Ladarrius Bishop, both of whom stand a chance of starting at each corner spot for the Hogs this season.
Easter was considered a top priority at tight end for Arkansas in next year’s class. The Razorbacks have also made at least two others priority targets in Luke Hasz of Bixby (Okla.) and Jaden Hamm of Eudora (Kan.).
Hasz, who has a sister attending the UA, made two unofficial visits with the Hogs this summer while Hamm also got his first look at Fayetteville in June.
Arkansas is signing a pair of tight ends in the Class of 2022, with verbal commitments from Tyrus Washington of Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County and Dax Courtney of Clarendon (Ark.).

Couple questions for you while you're in the future
1. How does the Texas game go?
2. What's the price of Ethereum at?

He could very well be bumped down to a three star in the future.

Eudora (Kan.) four-star tight end Jaden Hamm has committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks. Hamm, 6-6, 225, went public with his decision late Saturday evening to become the Hogs' second verbal commitment for the Class of 2023.
After the Razorbacks landed four-star tight end Shamar Easter of Ashdown (Ark.) on Friday, Hamm decided there was no reason to wait any longer.
"It was one of those things where I went on the visit and we had a click," Hamm said. "I was really into it, I was feeling it. Obviously talking to Coach Loggains and Coach Pittman weekly, I built a relationship with them that I hadn't built with any other school. The things that they had to offer and the relationship we already had, it was kind of -- they brought it up to me -- and I was like, do I really need anywhere else? This place felt like home. So, I was just thinking the time is now if I'm going to do it.
"I called Coach Loggains at about 5:15 p.m. and let him know. That, and Coach Pittman did a FaceTime immediately. They were both excited and hyped."
Hamm, who visited Fayetteville in June, chose the Hogs over Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, Nebraska, TCU, Tennessee, Kansas State, Iowa State and many others.
Hamm said he's excited to join up with Easter on the Hill.
"It's going to be an amazing 12 personnel offense is all I've got to say," Hamm said.
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Hamm is a four-star prospect, No. 259 overall in the nation, No. 17 among all tight ends, and No. 3 in the state of Kansas. 247Sports lists him as the No. 16 tight end and the No. 3 prospect in Kansas.

Who knew Dowell would be our best recruiter ever.

Since he's done with TEs it seems, I hope he's now going to recruit every other position for us in Offense and maybe a little on defense, too.
Hell, at his rate, we'd have a top 5-10 class in 23.

Bentonville (Ark.) High offensive tackle Joey Su'a announced his commitment to Arkansas early Wednesday morning. Su'a is commit No. 3 for head coach Sam PIttman and the Razorbacks early in the 2023 recruiting cycle.
Offensive line coach Cody Kennedy led the charge in recruiting Su'a. Arkansas has the 247Sports Composite's No. 8 recruiting class early in the cycle.
"I couldn’t be in a better position right now," Su'a told 247Sports. "I’m just thankful that God has allowed me to play the game I love near the people I love with a program that is shaking up the SEC and college football. Coach Pittman is a coach I want to play for in college."
Su'a attended the Razorbacks win over Texas earlier this fall.
"Arkansas has been fired up about this Texas game for weeks now," Su'a said at the time. "The hate for the Longhorns is real. I felt really welcomed by the genuine hospitality of the staff and fans. The stadium packed with over 75,000 fans roaring for play was a sight to behold. Coach Pittman is building something special here in Northwest Arkansas. Overall experience was just awesome."
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Su'a was offered by Pittman and his staff during a visit in late July.
Su'a also had an early offer from BYU. He is tabbed by the Top247 as the nation's No. 50 offensive tackle and No. 2 overall player in the state.
Other early commits for Arkansas include the No. 1 recruit in the state in Ashdown (Ark.) High Top247 tight end Shamar Easter and Eudora (Kan.) High four-star tight end Jaden Hamm.
