So, I was watching the replay of the Army game against Morgan State, I can't put the link up because its... ahem... somewhat pirated.

There were a lot of similarities to our game against San Jose State. Army came out flatter then a politician's brain waves. Two muffed punts/kickoffs, busted plays, a fumble, poor tackling form and they were trailing lowly Morgan State 14-7.

So Army coach Jeff Monken gathers the entire team around him, has them kneel down, and then proceeds to absolutely chew them out. He screams, he yells, he pushes players, he gets in their behinds in a major way.

Army outscores Morgan State 48-7 the rest of the game.

I'm not saying Jeff Monken is our guy and we need to go to the triple option, though it would be funny as hell to watch Saban bust a blood vein in his forehead trying to stop FB dive after FB dive, but I think we need a coach who is willing, when the chips are down, to light a fire under some people's butts and get results.

I think the players would laugh if Chad did this. Still think the players mentality is too laid back with this staff. When you have Arkansas players dancing around with no shirts in warmups, there is a definite disconnect somewhere.

I did see Chad on the video board sternly talking to the whole team at one point in the 3rd quarter but he wasn't very animated.

I think his problem is he tries to be both a hardass while trying to be a buddy buddy coach instead of one or the other. I mean he suspended players for flirting with cheerleaders and leaving towels in their locker but then sets up a nightclub for them. Maybe it's a result of how young the coaching staff is as a whole.

this isn't a problem, in this day and age, if you have the players prepared, and talented players. Preparedness is lacking, as is the play calling.

some people focus by music, etc. others need silence, etal...

A bit more on that Army vs Morgan State game. First, a correction. They outscored them 45-7 not 48-7.

Here is a snippet of what Jeff Monken had to say after the game.

Army head coach Jeff Monken said it at halftime of the Morgan State game. He said it to his players after the game. And then he walked into his press conference and relayed the somber message to the media: “I don’t know when I’ve been more embarrassed as a coach.”

This after a 31 pt win where his team rallied and outscored their opponents 45-7 down the stretch. We would have been whooping it up in Club Dub after that.

How did his players respond to this game and Monken chewing them out during and after the game?

“We’re going to be hard on each other,” said senior captain Elijah Riley, “hold each other accountable for everything and not allow another game like this to take place.”

Now, for the record, I would not bat an eye if Army lost another two or three games this year. Their defense took a big step back after losing their DC and they've had issues with turnovers. For a team that had hoped to make a NY6 bowl game and go undefeated this year that would be a bitter pill to swallow.

That having been said this is what a hard nosed and disciplined football team looks like. It isn't enough that they won. They won and looked bad doing it and that won't cut it.

Anyone who actually supports the hiring of Briles can get fricked in a major way. Might wanna actually read about the lengths that Baylor went to in their cover up and PR campaign.

Zero chance it happens so not sure why anyone would disgrace themselves by repeatedly calling for it. I would be done with Razorback football if they hired that scumbag.

Briles people make me laugh. As if the pious Bible thumpers in our PTB would ever give a moment's consideration toward hiring him.

If we dynamited our football program and salted the ashes because Petrino had a side piece who he hired, we sure as hell aren't hiring Art Briles.

Calling for Briles is akin to the Gruden bullshite a few years ago -- it won't happen, so don't waste your time. He's scraping by coaching Texas high school football right now, and if he breaks back into college it'll be at the FCS or DII/DIII ranks.

I really thought I was the only one of this board who thought something like this. If the only way to win football games is to hire a guy who knowingly covers up rape I'm ok at losing. Call it what you want
