Agim, a junior pass rusher, openly admits he was not able to make as many plays in the one-year move to the 3-4 under former defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads in 2017.
Longtime Southeastern Conference coordinator John Chavis brought another 4-3 look to Fayetteville in the spring. Agim worked out at multiple positions on the inside and outside of the defensive line, and liked the switch back to something more comfortable.
“You’re not just a sitting duck,” Agim said of the 4-3 vs. the 3-4. “I felt like last year we were just sitting ducks in the defense. We were just holding blocks. Now we’re attacking also. You’re able to show your athleticism.”

This approach alone should do wonders with our defense. If you're gonna give up big plays anyway, you may as well bring pressure and see if you can't get some turnovers.

Ramsey and Agim should both have good seasons with a more aggressive scheme. Sitting back and being passive on defense in the SEC is a good way to give up a ton of yards.

That style is always going to work better with the type of offense we are trying to run as well.

I don’t think words can possibly describe what a shitshow our defensive strategy was last year.

Awful. It was a combination of the Robb Smith hold up the linemen to free linebackers days plus the 3-4 scheme change by Bielema to act like he was changing something
because he couldn’t recruit enough DL under Segrest. 
Then lining the NG up sometimes three yards off the LOS.
