When we hired beilama I was glad we didn't get a spread coach. We had always ran a pro style offense, it had worked and at the time that's what the other top teams in the sec were running, and I believed the spread was just too gimmicky. But after watching Oklahoma Ohio State Clemson auburn Alabama miss state tcu and just how versatile tgat offense can be I am ready for it. We need an up and coming coach who can recruit Texas and get the athletes who've ram this offense their entire lives. It can't be any worse than the offense yesterday

I've never been a big spread guy outside of what Petrino ran, but I've turned a new leaf and think it's the way forward for us.

The cons are well known, but the benefits are plentiful, and it arguably gives us the best chance to compete given our inherent disadvantages.

If you have a good offensive line and a QB who is a leader, makes good decisions, and is a better than average thrower, then any type of system will work. Our problem is that both our offensive line and Allen's leadership skills are below average

I don't necessarily disagree, but we had terrible offensive lines under Petrino and were able to compensate for it with superior QB play and disciplined route running.

Agree about Allen. He's not a leader and his body language is awful, and it was bad last year. I think it's safe to say that Auburn mentally broke him.

Also, this offensive line is trash and was last year. Anderson was a disasterous hire.

I don't think the spread can be seen as just trendy anymore. It's more evolved and superior to any other offensive scheme at the college level. You can actually be a spread team and still control the ball, if you want. We saw that yesterday.

The amount of options that the offense has out of a single formation in the spread is overwhelming for college defenses

For the spread you need a zillion small fast guys, which are probably all over the delta where nobody else realizes they are there.

Get some sort of "underprivileged Delta kids academic program" for a couple hundred a year and pick out a couple of fast guys a year. The Delta probably is underrepresented in Fayetteville anyway.

I do think we can win, and win big, with a pro style offense. It has a wide variety of ways to move the ball and can be extremely difficult to stop.

The problem, and its a big one, is that you have to have at least decent, if not great, line play and a solid QB to run that offense.

Right now AA is in a mental space where as soon as something goes wrong he blows his top and then he starts making bad things worse.

Whether we go spread, pistol, or say frick it and bring back the wishbone the problem is that we don't have the leadership from the coaching staff to make any of it work.

Ditto. Would bring a great offense and incredible inroads with Texas recruiting.

Unfortunately, as we are with most everything, we are a day late and a dollar short because Aggie will be in the market in November and he will likely be near the top of their list.

I actually think we have the tools at WR to go full spread right now. We have guys like Pettway, Stewart, Hammonds, and Hayden who are athletes, not neccesarily polished WR's, but athletes. Get them the ball quick and in space and let them be athletes. Who wouldn't like to see Hayden and Hammonds get the ball on quicks and screens and see what they can do in space? I also think that our O-line would benefit too. AA would be getting the ball out quicker, and open things up in the running game. I like Bret, I really do. I want him to succeed, but in my opinion if he doesn't adapt he won't be here next year.

To be totally honest more than half that region is probably severely lacking in african americans. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Northwest Arkansas has had a big surge in this in the last 10 years in reference to Bentonville.

Have you ever been to the Delta?

As someone who's from there, you couldn't be more wrong.

My grandparents are from NE Arkansas... I never saw a black guy when I went to visit.

I'll take your word for it but with the lack of large cities that way I doubt the AA population is congregating in the rice fields. Does Jonesboro have a lot of athletes?

Dude, I consider the delta central and southeast Arkansas like Warren. Jonesboro isn't the delta imo

I don't think scheme makes any difference. Our OLine is bad. Was bad last year and honestly never been a strength since Bert has here.

I don't even get mad watching games anymore. When Nutt was here I'd lose my mind. But I thought Nutt did less with more. With Bert I never feel like we have talent or depth compared to others. It sucks but I can't make myself care anymore.
