as I said, sticking with 6/6 for the time being...

But, Colorado State are absolutely terrible defensively at stopping the run. If we have problems with our run game there, we are gonna suck in that position all year.

After rewatching some of the game, they sold out to stop the run, but still we should have more yards than we did. CCM said that we want to hand our hat on the run game and that has to be corrected. We will see...

I've been talking about the OL since last season. I'm not beating that horse anymore....for now.

Other things that stood out to me...

We had a 19 yard punt today. WTF was that? Hopefully ole baw got that out of his system. FG kicker seemed solid.

Our defense looked quicker. They made a few mistakes and will always give up yards and points, but the tackling was improved and they forced turnovers by playing fast.

Jordan Jones could have a huge season. He looked good today.

Austin Cantrell looks like he has found his speed again too.

Bumper Pool is a name we're going to hear a lot.

Froholdt skipped several snaps back to the QB. Hope he gets that fixed soon.

Would rather see Ty Storey leading the offense than Cole Kelly.

I'm sticking with my 5-7 prediction. 4-0 vs non-conference and Vandy. After seeing Ole Miss today, I have no doubt they put it on us this season. Still a lot of work for the new staff, but I think we're moving the program back in the right direction. Morris might have us rolling in a couple more seasons. WPS

You can say a LOT about today, but 'embarrassing' is the last.

For sure, Ole Miss looked twice as fast as Hogs on Offense today playing much better comp even after Tech lost their QB1 early.
We may get lucky and beat someone in the last few games if injuries and lack of hope hit a SEC team hard and we get much better.
Thx to schedule six wins is still possible Max.

Lots of tagging on the Oline...understandable. From my seat in the stadium I saw a patch work group that had good pass pro all day long. It was an inferior opponent, but the last two years our QBs have been rocked by similar competition. So, I saw much improvement in that area.

I was bothered by the lack of rushing in the first half. So in the second half, I had my attention on the Oline on running plays. I had a pretty good vantage point in the stadium. I honestly felt like there were holes there and our backs missed them. Not every time, but quite a few times. I’ll watch the DVR game tomorrow and see what some of you may have seen on TV. From my seat, I saw plenty of opportunities available for our back, but would instead opt the other way. That needs improvement.

Kelley isn’t going to win us games this year. Just too slow. I thought Ty was okay. He was throwing behind guys and making the WRs wait on his deep balls. That worked today, but against even Vandy level SEC competition, it’s going to be picked off or at least broken up.

I was overall pleased with the defense. Definitely improved on tackling. The getting burnt on deep balls is concerning. In the second half, it seemed like we couldn’t keep an OLB healthy. Dre out, Bumper got cramps, then #33(name escapes me)got banged up. Then Henry got some PT. That really seemed to be when EIU started moving the ball.

I’ll have a more solid take away after the game next week. Interested in seeing the improvement from game 1 to 2.

Hawgeye, spot on man...

The Oline was terrible, but after watching some more of the game... It seemed that our RB's were missing the point of contact and break away with the holes made.

Our D did tackle much better, and although against what is supposed to be inferior competition, those turnovers .. or several happened for a reason, our D caused them.

Again, against Colorado State we must have a much improved running game. They are terrible at stopping the run. Looking forward to what you say following that game. WPS!

Saw more than I expected in the first game and Ty was a welcome surprise. Felt that the running game was missing however. Nice to see a QB throwing on the run, etc. On the D side forced fumbles were surprising but I felt the pass rush was lacking.

All in all a hellava lot of points were put up and I saw more than I expected for the first game. Nice to see the players weren't going through the motions like in previous recent years.

Still 5 wins because Vandy in on the schedule. Ole Miss does not look like a winnable game anymore. Considering downgrading to 4 wins but that doesn't mean I'm down on the team.

I saw things yesterday I haven't seen in years and in some cases ever and they were all good.

Cole clearly doesn't know the offense like Ty. That was evident when before every snap he'd look at the sidelines for ten seconds before joining the formation. If they are tied for first team, the QB position has some major issues that Chad is keeping under wraps.

4-5 wins. The cellar is still 3 but the ceiling has been lowered to 6. When the talent gets to campus, the Razorbacks will be dangerous.

Even though we looked like we were swarming to the ball on D a lot better than we have in several years, the pass defense still gives me pause. I saw way too many easy completions on quick slants, and they moved the ball on us effectively in spite of the final score. Turnovers are what killed them and eventually broke the game open for us.

Our starters in the secondary are talented, but there's not much behind them. Also, Callaway got stone cold beat on two of their TDs.

All in all, I'm okay with what I saw, but I'm not revising my prediction (5-7) or booking tickets to Atlanta. We beat Florida A&M 49-7 in the opener last year, so it's always good to take the FCS outcomes with a huge grain of salt. The rest of the SEC west looks ridiculous.

The Oline was terrible

I honestly do not know how anyone can say this after watching the last two years of our QBs getting hammered on every pass play.

Is there room for improvement? Lord yes. To say they were terrible yesterday just isn't factual.

Again, I think anyone who says the OL was terrible yesterday is forgetting that the last two years under Anderson saw our QBs constantly laying on their back side, QBs out multiple games due to injury sustained from terrible OL play.

There is definitely room for improvement in the running game, but the OL was far from terrible.

I am more concerned with our backs not finding the holes I saw in the second half. Whaley still looked to run a bit stiff to me.

I didnt even know foucha played. And i thought he was a safety I hope we let Harrell play more and throw more back shoulder fades to him and pettway. Storey threw one that was really good pettway just missed it.

True I was just basing it on the face of our running game being horrible, after watching again... We missed some holes for sure, but there weren't too many holes made either.

But I don't remember our QB's on their backsides like norm in the past couple of years.

Geeze, how did a man known for Oline flying first class leave us with this?

Yes, he’s the one that missed the block on the option early in the game.
