This is strangely reminiscent of the Pre Nutt days. I sure hope we don't go that same route and dread it in a few years.

Yes it is, we're coming full circle now. My only hope is that the BOT isn't AS full of good ole boys and homers these days, and times have changed a lot since then. These are much more professional, frugal, and less 'small town' trustees, the bigtime donors aren't primarily old money country boys with their hands in everything, and Steinmetz is anything but an Arkansas GOBN type.

All that being said, you'd think people with their skillsets and professional backgrounds would've had some sort of loose plan in place before pulling the trigger. Doesn't look like they had one at all, but we shall see.

It's going to be a shite show. We are going to be embarrassed on a national level. Not for losing football games, lots of teams do that. We are gonna look like idiots in this AD and coach search. Feel free to bookmark this. I miss Long already.

UA board member: I expect [Bielema] to be gone within the next week or so.

Remember, decision would come from UA Chancellor Joe Steinmetz. #WPS

If that's your only hope you're fricked. That post exactly describes our trustees. Let's look at a few...

quote:

Ben Hyneman of Jonesboro is president of Southern Property & Casualty Insurance Company.

quote:

Mark Waldrip of Moro is owner of East Arkansas Seeds, Inc. and Armor Seed, LLC, companies that develop and sell soybeans, wheat, rice and corn. He also owns and manages Waldrip Farms, Inc., a several thousand acre family farm.

quote:

John Goodson of Texarkana is a law partner at Keil & Goodson, P.A.

quote:

C.C. “Cliff” Gibson III of Monticello is founder of Gibson and Keith Law Firm and serves as county attorney for Drew County, Arkansas.

quote:

Sheffield Nelson of Little Rock is a senior partner at Jack Nelson and Jones. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law and is a graduate of the Arkansas State Teachers College. Nelson is the former chairman, president and CEO of Arkla, and won the Republican nomination for Arkansas Governor in 1990 and 1994.

quote:

Tommy Boyer, of Fayetteville, graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1964, where he was also an All-American basketball player. He retired from the Eastman Kodak Company in 1989

Those are all the picture of GOB

shot 93.3% from the freethrow line and I believe still holds the record @ arkansas.

Some of those guys are probably fine. Boyer is not. Would like a little more professional leaders and less "honorific" or "political" appointments

I liked Gary George and Reynie Rutledge. Pryor is great. Those are GOBs that actually get stuff done and realize being a trustee doesn't mean you spend 99% of your effort micromanaging athletics

Maybe Jonathan Barnett or Dick Trammell. Morris Arnold. General Marty Steele

If we finish in the top 50 recruiting rankings I'll be stunned.

Get ready to be the worst team in the SEC for another 4 years.

Scanlon is picking up steam for the AD position, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens soon.

I've heard Venables being thrown around A LOT the last couple days now as well. Interest is being shown from one of the two ends, our current status would lead me to believe his end. I'd be comfortable with a defensive guy like him if he's paired with a good, experienced OC.

I read on another site that Scanlon turned the job down and that’s why there wasn’t an announcement today? There is so much random information flying around right now.

Also, don’t take this the wrong way, but frick no on another defensive guy. We’ve won with offensive minded head coaches. That’s the direction we need to move back towards.
