A few weeks ago, everyone said "getting to Omaha would be a big success for this team"

Back when we were playing like shite, everyone said "if we can just get to Omaha, anything else would be gravy" or "Super Regional is this teams ceiling" or "we're playing with house money".

Yet for some of our fans, the moment we arrive in Omaha, the goalposts shifted to "Natty or Fire DVH". Do you people realize how insane you are?

I am not ashamed to say after the Texas A&M series I thought this team wouldn't get out of a regional. They overachieved by playing well together at the right time. I would happily take 3-2 in Omaha over an SEC West banner and loss in Regionals, as would any sane Hog fans. That means DVH succeeded in pushing the right buttons when the going got tough

I am proud of this team for it's accomplishments and thank the players for a crazy postseason ride that won't be soon forgotten. The team ultimately met high preseason expectations, as they were a top 5 team most of the year and will end #3.

To the fans with "short term memory loss", I say get your head examined. If you really think "this happens every year" you must've forgotten when we beat (in my opinion a better) Ole Miss team in the Supers in 2019. It's baseball, you don't win em all, but DVH puts in position to succeed year in and year out. He is all Hog and will win it someday

Great reasonable post. DVH has his flaws but we've been to Omaha 3 of the last 4 seasons (with the other being one win away from making Omaha). All we can do is keep getting there and giving ourselves a chance.

Nothing like beating a rival SEC team the best out of three during the regular season only to see us draw the short straw when it matters. That's sickening. State last year, and now Ole Miss.

That's salt in the wound.

They did Porker…and also before the season it was…”We need to lose some series and not win them all so the pressure on the team isn’t sky high”….but everyone forgets about that.

I would venture that approximately 25-40% of baseball success is based on just pure arse luck. An inch here or there. We just don’t seem to be very lucky when it counts.

They need to give younger arms more of a chance this go around. Thankfully, Ramage and Vermillion are no longer an option and we'll actually get to see some new names get a chance.

Also, hopefully a new approach at the plate if we're keeping Nate Thompson.

I’m pretty excited about the young guys in McEntire, Smith, and Tygart. From a historical standpoint, I felt like we got more freshman pitching contribution this year than previous. I know McEntire doesn’t fall into that category, but he is still young and took advantage of his midweek opportunities enough to catch DVH’s eye.

To be fair I think he walked into DvHs office and said give me the ball.

I like that.

I'm pretty down in terms of them losing vs OSU. Still not over last year honestly.

It doesn't matter. Common sense goes out the window with fan emotions.

All season long, our offense struggled and we had to listen to fans complaining about our pitching.

I've had the same complaint with our offense for the last 4 seasons. We strike out too much, especially looking. Nobody will ever convince me that swinging for the fences is the best offensive approach. This season, we didn't hut enough dingers to make that approach work.

Overall, we should be able to reload and be in the top 10 again next season with a chance for another run at Omaha.

I'm one of those who called a regional win a massive win and still stand by it. Based on the end of the year, this year was a smash hit, especially with PP going down.

I'll say this: If OSU beats us, I think they are playing Oklahoma tonight. They were good.

I might not be a scientific rocket, but your logic fails me. By your deduction, it should be us playing OU. That sure as hell didn't happen.

I'll pull out my casio calculator watch and get a handle on all of this.
