A bit OT -- Jim Chaney held us back tremendously

By happenstance, I've watched every Georgia game this season, and I can emphatically say that Chaney is a mediocre OC. The runs out of the shotgun, the consistent called pass plays (out of the shotgun, mind you) on 3rd and short, the odd blocking schemes, the inability to compensate for opposing DC adjustments, and playing soft in general. In 3 games against inferior competition, they've had to squeak out wins and have been getting owned at the line of scrimmage, which falls on Pittman as well.
At the gym today, I decided to rewatch the 2014 Texas Bowl game while cranking out a few miles (the treadmills have TVs -- CSB, I know). The playcalling, especially in the first half, was terrible, and it was night and day compared to what we've seen with Enos. It also reminded me of the 2014 Texas Tech game when Bert had force Chaney to stop passing in the second half because they couldn't stop us on the ground, as well as the 2014 A&M game when he was passing with a lead late, which allowed them to get the ball back.
All of this got me thinking that it's almost incalculable how much Chaney held us back in 2014 when we were in the midst of 13 straight. That team wins 9 games with Enos as OC. I almost feel bad when I watch Georgia this year and can forecast out their fans' anger and disenchantment with Chaney.

Chaney isn't terrible. He's playing a numbers game. What he choose to ignore was that when you have the right personnel sometimes numbers don't mater. We should have flattened Texas Tech they could of put 12 in the box and struggled to stop us as small as they are.
I think Chaney outsmarts himself trying to get clever when you don't need it.

Even though they won the playcalling on that last drive against Missouri was awful. He was taking shots into the endzone like there were 10 seconds left in the game instead of 1:30. He got bailed out.

I agree that he's not terrible. Our offense still improved a lot under him. But it never would've taken the next step like it did under Enos.

Enos is much better. I think he understands more of the game and the full situation. Probably due to being a head coach and knowing when it's time to just run the ball out.

Meh, I'd argue a large part of that is due to the fact we returned practically everyone on offense in 2014 from 2013 save for Kiero Small.
I'd also posit that a big reason why Brandon couldn't get the late game monkey off his back for two years is because he was consistently put in bad situations via questionable formations and play calls.
I've said this before, but if my life depended on the first offensive series or two of a football game, I'd want Jim Chaney to call it. The problem is that he's got no counterpunch, no second or third pitch when the opposing DC adjusts. He just has that fastball that he keeps firing right down Broadway.

Georgia fans talking about Chaney

I absolutely loathe Jim Chaney's offense. When we go shoutgun and spread teams out we rarely if ever run out of it. When we go to the PowerI in 3rd and short we run into the teeth of the defense and get stuffed every fricking time. Kubanlow gets blown up at the point of attack so much it makes my head spin. That power I set....the only wrinkle is the toss to the FB outside of running Chubb into 9/10 man boxes and it fricking sucks. That set particularly has been god awful this year. There is a reason CHubb is averaging 3 yards a fricking carry. His biggest carry came on a shotgun wildcat run last night. My thoughts are Jim Chaney is not getting it done and if it wasn't for an insanely explosive IMAC we would fricked.

They have Nick Chubb and Sony Michel and passed it 55 times. I found their problem.

Enos was a QB, has always coached QBs, knows QBs and how to put them in a position they can suceed.
Chaney thinks of himself as a QB guru because he was Brees' OC that one year at Purdue...

With a true freshman quarterback, mind you.
Being able to foresee how Chaney's tenure at UGA will go is reminiscent of how accurately we Hog fans could predict the career arc of Houston Nutt at Ole Miss.

From what I've seen, it looks like they're profoundly unhappy with their offensive line play, too.
It's almost like I've seen this movie before.

And its a horror movie too boot. I remember in the off season warning Georgia fans who blithely ignored me with "we'll just wear teams out with Chubs and our Freshman QB won't be put in bad situations."
So far this year their QB has been put in nothing but bad situations. A Missouri team not in the middle of a major rebuild would have blown Georgia out of the water.

Arkansas never had the talent to execute JC's offense. If anyone would ever look at the plays that failed, it was always a good call, just didn't have the talent on the field to execute.

Could be said about any play call ever... or at least most.
JC was terrible about adjusting to what the D was zeroing in on. Horrible!

I am hoping he was trolling with that comment.
