Where is the woe is me shite you pulled out of your arse? You THINK Petrino would have kept winning at that pace but he dominoed with that group he had and he may have done pretty well the next couple of years but he wasn’t known for his recruiting and his personality wasn’t a draw so there’s no reason to believe that your 9,10 and 11 win seasons would would ever happen again and many of our fans are impatient.
When Lou Holtz came he was the greatest offensive mind we’d ever seen and was the greatest thing since sliced bread but he petered out pretty quick. There are no guarantees.
My initial contention was that people hate nutt’s guts but he did an admirable job and some want to write their own history of him and pass it off as fact and I disagree with that type of thinking.
I have no gripe with you and this whole thing with Nutt always strikes a nerve. I’ll try to stay away from these things.

Arguably?
Darren McFadden
Felix Jones
Peyton Hillis
Michael Smith
Tony Ugoh
Jonathan Luigs
Zac Tubbs
Nate Garner
Ben Cleveland
Stephen Parker
Mitch Petrus
Robert Felton
Marcus Monk
London Crawford
Damian Williams
I like those Petrino offenses but that 2006 team had superior RBs and greater depth at OL. They were just a decent QB away from being a great team.
Nutt coached during a very weak SEC from 1998 to 2007 and when Saban landed in Tuscaloosa, the conference got a lot tougher from that point on.
Petrino inherited a mess that Nutt left him and unfortunately had to face an Alabama dynasty that Nutt never faced.
What did he win? Nothing when it comes to championships. It is hard to win anything with the dominance of Saban and Alabama in the West. No one was winning the West besides them except for a very rare occasion.
Did he waste talent? He maximized his talent to full potential and was the greatest game day in Arkansas history.
If he hung around a few years he would had a 7-5/8-4 2012 season. 7-5/8-4 2013 season. Nope I wouldn't want him fired, his seat would be as cold as ice. Then the next few years would be 10-2/9-3 in 2014 and 11-1/10-2 in 2015. Definitely wouldn't want him fired here.

He would done much better than Bert.
Arkansas went from a coach that would spend countless hours into the night watching film to a coach that spent countless hours into the night getting drunk and passing out at East Side Grill.

While you and Clark Kent are in a pissing match about MOTHO and Bobby, can we discuss the future of Razorback football?
We all know Titboss isn't going to be around next season. And it's a forgone conclusion that Bobby isn't going to replace him, as much as some on this board think this will happen
There are some rumors floating around out there that the chicken folks are ready to throw down some serious money and tell Hunter who to hire.
Anyone else heard about this, maybe Rev?

quote:agreed people would kill for nutts tenure now. But the thing that got me was you saying Petrino was guaranteed to crash and burn the next few years when Brandon Allen, Trey flowers, Deatrich wise, Darius philon, etc. were all Petrino guys. The only major contributors even during Bert’s decent years that he brought in that we know for sure wouldn’t have come if Petrino was still here is Alex Collins. I can guarantee you that 2014 does better than 6-6 with Bobby running the show. Like I said and the other guy pointed out between 2014-2016 we probably have 2 double digit win seasons. And then you know recruiting starts to get easier when you have 3 or 4 10 win seasons in a 6/7 year time span.

I view this as only conjecture honestly. Yes, I have heard that this is being considered (LOL). One name mentioned is to get someone like Cal in basketball... for football... And the name is "Dabo" which wouldn't be great imho... the other is "Gundy" again.
Those two names are the reason I am not taking it serious!

quote:that’s the only one I can see being comparable to cal in size of name recognition that might leave his current school but I think he retires if he leaves Clemson. The other one would be urban Meyer but I think that would be a major waste of money
Dabo

The name I've heard being thrown out there is currently coaching in the NFL.

Would not be a fit because he is anti-portal usage.

That ship 100% sailed years ago. The feeling is he will retire rather than take another job.

You may have more leads than I do anymore...
Haven't heard anything on NFL coaches. Assistants? HC? Whom? Hey man, spill it.. I did, lol

We'll end up with that cuck Dabo. He's wearing out his welcome at Clemson and the powers that be up on the hill will think that would be a great splash hire for the program after experimenting with back-to-back unqualified candidates.
But who knows, maybe we can get back to bowl eligibility with him.

Good lord. Dabo would be better qualified than any coach we've ever hired. Also, Cal has come to his senses about the portal. Dabo will too. But there is a 0% chance he would want to come to Arkansas.

As soon as I hear it from another legit source, I'll spill the beans
Dude has coached in college before and wasn't that great. Which leads me to believe he's probably the one they throw money at.

dear Lord, Clif? Nahhh Man! From Texas Tech to the NFL to a foreign nation, then to.... NFL Assistant, to Arkansas...
Nahhh!
this one I heard today, and laughed it off...
Nahhh!

quote:we could do worse. Now that he’d be back in college where all you have to do is throw money at kids he won’t have to try too hard at recruiting, which I don’t think he liked doing anyway, but he can also use the fact that he was an nfl head coach and also coached Patrick mahomes as major factors to get qbs here. Problem is our defense will be major trash

Dammit Rev.
I knew you'd sniff out the leak.
The story I heard was they we're willing to throw 9-10 million at Kliff.
Never underestimate the PTB at Arkansas to step on their dicks

I’m not a connected person, but the stupidity of our hiring would put him up there. I wanted Lane, then Sark..
Then I wanted Deboer and Fisch this year…
Deboer has Bama and Fisch is a Florida graduate I believe.
The one I figured we would get and I haven’t been sold on was Lashlee, but the Malzahn frickers will try to get him.
Also GJ Kinne and Traylor are probably the 3 we go for. The only person I could see making more sense would be Lunney.
