Hit .314 last year with 13 homers. Seems like a solid pickup.

2024 Impact Transfers Countdown: 91-100

99. Ty Wilmsmeyer, OF (Missouri to Arkansas)

Out of the two Missouri outfielder transfers to Fayetteville, Wilmsmeyer probably has the most upside. He’s coming off a solid 2023 campaign at Missouri, where he hit .311 with seven homers and 25 RBIs, along with 10 doubles and 21 stolen bases. Wilmsmeyer has some definite swing and miss, but he has plenty of athleticism and experience. He’s a solid addition for the Hogs.

98. Jack Wagner, 1B (Tarleton State to Arkansas)

Last year, it was Jared Wegner who provided a big power boost out of the transfer portal. This go-round, Wagner could fit that mold. Wagner is a physical 6-foot, 205-pounder, who is coming off a terrific campaign with the Texans, hitting .337 with 15 homers and 56 RBIs, while also stealing seven bases and ending the campaign with a 1.143 OPS.

As long as you hit plenty of HR's you can strike out as much as you want. That's just baseball today.

Next 10 just dropped, they started at 130 btw.

2024 Impact Transfers Countdown: 81-90

89. Jared Sprague-Lott, INF (Richmond to Arkansas)

Dave Van Horn and his coaching staff hit the transfer portal hard this past summer, and Sprague-Lott was a strong pickup. The talented infielder is coming off a productive 2023 campaign, where he hit .314 with 13 homers and 43 RBIs, along with a whopping 44 walks as opposed to 31 strikeouts. He ended last season with a 1.022 OPS.

The problem is we didnt hit that many HR's last season. Not one with more than 15, while plenty of other teams had multiple guys with more than 15+

Yeah, and years before we have hit a ton. Hopefully these guys hit a good amount again.

2024 Top 130 Impact Transfers: 31-40

33. Hudson White, C (Texas Tech to Arkansas)

White entering the transfer portal was one of the bigger surprises of the summer, and it will be interesting to see if he continues the tradition of premier catchers at Arkansas. White is still developing from a defensive standpoint, but the bat should play well in Fayetteville. Last season, he hit .294 for the Red Raiders with 10 doubles, 11 homers and 49 RBIs, along with 27 walks, 31 strikeouts and a .942 OPS.

How's this for irony? Polk and Rowland are leading Fall Ball in HR's so far with 3 apiece.

Helfrick and Rowland supposedly have the strongest arms.

White could play another position if he doesn't stick at C. But he was brought in to start. So, I bet he starts if Wernes can work his magic like he did for Rowland last year.

Rowland seems to have taken to Helfrick as a mentor for the kid and is a nice defensive backup.

And I bet Polk will end up being the odd man out in the end.

Hogs land 3 on top 100 for MLB draft on D1.

Hagen #15
Tygart #34
Molina #62

I've seen Hagen as high as #12 from at least 2 MLB sites.

From D1Baseball,

Fall Practice Notes:

quote:

Arkansas offers glimpse of what’s to come in Fall Classic

While many SEC clubs are still in the individual workouts portion of the fall, Arkansas got off to a running start and staged its seven-inning Fall Classic on Friday, September 15.

Team Gray, which was headlined by Texas Tech transfers Hudson White and Mason Molina along with returning outfielder Kendall Diggs, won the exhibition game 7-2 over Team Cardinal, which was headlined by pitchers Brady Tygart and Will McEntire, plus Sacramento State shortstop Wehiwa Aloy.

Molina got the start for Gray and was excellent, striking out the side in order in his one inning of work. Tygart didn’t fare quite as well in starting for Cardinal, as he gave up two runs in his inning.

The pitching for Gray was outstanding in general, as six of the seven pitchers who took the mound threw a scoreless inning. In addition to Molina, that includes Parker Coil, who is coming off of a standout summer in the Cape Cod League, Christian Foutch, Gage Wood, freshman lefthander Colin Fisher and Kansas transfer Stone Hewlett.

For Cardinal, two of the pitching standouts were freshmen in lefthander Hunter Dietz and righthander Tate McGuire. Dietz, a big body at 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, works with a fastball in the low-to-mid 90s and has massive upside potential. McGuire, a Kansas City native and the Gatorade Missouri player of the year as a senior, also has a low-to-mid-90s fastball along with multiple usable offspeed pitches.

Arkansas returns a very promising pitching staff led by veterans like Hagen Smith, Tygart, McEntire and Molina, plus second-year arms like Coil, Wood and Foutch, and having any of the aforementioned freshmen earn prominent roles would be icing on the cake.

Offensively, Gray got home runs from Diggs, junior college transfer outfielder Will Edmunson and catcher Hudson Polk, while Cardinal also got a home run from one of its catchers, Parker Rowland. Edmunson and Tarleton State transfer Jack Wagner, also on Gray, were the only two hitters to have two hits on the day.

With quite a bit of turnover in the lineup, the Razorbacks will lean on a number of newcomers among position players in 2024, so it’s good news that some newcomers were right in the thick of everything happening offensively during the Fall Classic.
