You can forget about football winning one

This is why basketball and baseball need to be prioritized when it comes to NIL. Arkansas may be able to back door their way into a 12 team football playoff, but there is zero chance they are winning a national championship in football. There is a legitimate chance to win multiple titles in both basketball and baseball.

It just makes you angry that the Mississippi schools won it while Arkansas has been consistently good but stumbles when it counts the most. It feels like Georgia in football before Kirby Smart. So close but a sad ending is so predictable.

State avoids the hottest team in the nation that had to forfeit because of covid 19 rules. Now they are trash.

Bianco is almost fired. Barely makes the tournament and wins the whole damned thing. Now they are trash.

But all Arkansas gets is a lousy foul ball gif as a reminder each and every year of how embarrassing it was.

In positive news, we have a 5 game homestand starting today to embark on Operation figure out the left side of the infield.

damn it’s sad how far Arkansas football has fallen. When nutt was here at least we still had the illusion, or delusion maybe, that we could win a conference or national title in football. SMILE, bert and chaggy completely broke us as a football school.

I think we know what NOT to do.

Under no circumstances should Bolton and Cali be on the field at the same time, and Bolton should sit for good. We already have an automatic out in our lineup at catcher regardless of who we put in the lineup, so we can’t eat another one.

Jones deserves a chance.

Some combo of Jones, Coll, Holt, Robinett, and (potentially) Cali should be our rotation at 5 and 6.

Arkansas since joining the SEC has just been bad in football not just the Chad or Bert years.

The SEC record since the joining the conference is hideous.

Nutt had some teams that could have won the SEC but his stubbornness kept him from reaching his potential.

when Nutt was here, we were recruiting football on par or better than everyone in the West. By the time Petrino left, Aggies joined and everyone had caught up to us except Miss St. Things actually improved recruiting wise with Bert but torpedoed in his sloppy phase and were obliterated with Morris. I always and forever will believe the petrino years is when the talent pool was gutted. every program hes been a part of has been destroyed in his wake.

it was nowhere near as bad before bert. Bobby had back to back 10 win seasons, Houston nutt was a muffed punt and fake punt away from a national championship appearance, and we were a stoernover away from another conference title appearance in the late 90s. I’m not saying we were world beaters but we were about like Iowa or Wisconsin, good enough to make a run once every 3 or 4 years. I really don’t think that’s asking too much and think we could be there again under the right guy

ETA: we may never be alabama but there’s no reason for teams like ole miss, Mississippi state, and Missouri to beat us on a regular basis.

Ah yes. Remember those games where Matt Jones would take a read option 75 yards for a TD and you could just see Nutt thinking "Great! Now we won't run that for the rest of the game because they'll be expecting it!" We left a lot of wins on the field under Nutt.

This is the biggest thing for me that I want to see play out over the next 5 games.

So naturally he strikes out looking twice in one inning when he gets his shot

Omaha had a pitcher go 2 innings and throw 100+ pitches.

Again, DVH has forgotten more ball than I’ll ever know…but this is puzzling.

Why wouldn’t we make use of a midweek game to test positional options at SS?

And of course Bolton comes up and GIDP in his first AB.

Lineup for game 1 against Bama:

1B - Slavens
2B - Stovall
SS - Bolton
3B - Cali
C - Rowland
LF - Wegner
CF - Josenberger
RF - Bohrofen
DH - Diggs

P - Hollan

Yet again, left side of the IF features Cali and Bolton. And Cali commits a 2 out error in the 1st inning.

Top 1st

Hollan K’s leadoff hitter looking.

Second batter grounds out to Stovall, 4-3

Third batter hits a grounder that Cali misfires on. Runner on, 2 outs.

Fourth batter hits a chopper to Bolton, 6-3 to end the inning.
